Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares Excitement About Being A Grandfather: 'It's The Easiest Thing'

Arnold Schwarzenegger was super delighted when talking about his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger and her family on Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Katherine is married to the famous actor Chris Pratt, and they have a daughter, Lyla. The couple is expecting a second baby, and Arnold is pretty psyched about it.

Jimmy Kimmel, the show’s host, congratulated the veteran actor on the soon-to-be addition to the family, after which Arnold went on about the growing family.

PEOPLE shared that the former Governor described being a grandfather as the easiest thing, probably because he doesn’t spend more than two hours playing with his granddaughter.

Arnold further said he usually has a great time with Katherine and her family whenever they visit, even though they stay for mostly two hours. Nevertheless, his house lights up anytime they visit.

He showered praises on Pratt, calling him fantastic and he expressed his love for his daughter, calling her wonderful and saying he was proud of her.

As the show went on, Kimmel asked Arnold about the gender of his second grandchild, to which he answered, “I really don’t know.”

The host wondered if Katherine and Pratt already knew their baby’s gender but didn’t want to tell the former politician because he was terrible at keeping secrets.

However, Arnold believed the couple had no idea about the baby's gender because of Katherine’s similarity to his ex-wife. His ex didn’t want to know the gender of her babies whenever she was pregnant. 

The Blast previously shared Arnold’s 32-year-old daughter wasn’t initially keen on the idea of him holding Lyla even though the doting grandfather knew how to handle kids.

He told Kimmel last year that Katherine freaked out whenever he carried his granddaughter. The author was always so touchy when he handled her baby. She would say, “Oh my God! Don’t hold her like this!” 

Despite all of that, Arnold still hung out with Lyla and looked forward to spending time with his second grandchild.

Arnold teased Pratt during a fundraiser the 42-year-old hosted on Instagram. The benefit was organized to raise funds for Greater Good’s Feed Thy Neighbor campaign.

The Blast shared that several of Pratt’s friends were present at the session, including Arnold, who he introduced pretty well. However, the father-in-law called him Chris Evans when he joined the session. He further said:

“Not Chris Evans, sorry. I’ve screwed up this whole thing right from the beginning. Chris Pratt. Sorry about that. I should know your name, that’s for sure. You’re my favorite son-in-law.”

Pratt is Arnold’s only son-in-law, and he didn’t fail to point it out to the veteran, saying he better be his favorite.

The IG Live session was very fruitful for the star as his efforts raised over $615,000. He tagged his friends on social media to thank them, including his teasing father-in-law, for their contributions.

Last December, The Blast shared that the “Terminator” star and his ex-wife, Maria Shriver, finalized their divorce ten years after their separation.

Arnold and Shiver both have a net worth of over $400 million, and since they had no prenuptial agreement, the money would be divided equally, including their properties. 

There have been rumors about why their divorce took so long, but no speculation has been solid enough.

The former couple married in 1985, and they have four kids together; two daughters, Katherine and Christina, and two sons, Patrick and Christopher.

In 2011, twenty-five years after their marriage, Shiver filed for divorce following Arnold’s announcement of his extramarital affair; he cheated on his wife with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena.

Mildred got pregnant with the actor, and they share a son, Joseph Baena, who is a replica of his dad.

It was a pretty heartbreaking period for Shiver, during which she released a statement asking for "compassion, respect, and privacy" as she and her kids tried to heal and rebuild their lives.

The 74-year-old took full responsibility for his actions while apologizing to his wife and kids. They both have a cordial relationship as they co-parent their kids and grandkids.
