Anna Duggar has since broken her silence on the conviction of her sex offender husband and appeared to insist that he was innocent.

On February 3, 2022, she took to her Instagram and Twitter to post a cryptic message. This was her first post since she announced the birth of her seventh child in November.

"There's more to the story," Anna wrote.

Though she didn't expound on it, she linked her husband's motion for acquittal or a new trial.

Anna had accompanied Josh Duggar to court every day of the trial in December. She also seemed to believe her husband's argument that someone else could have been behind the terrible slew of photos and videos of sexually abused children that were found on Josh's personal computer.

She also appeared to be the only one steadfastly sticking by him; several members of Josh's family had released statements supporting the judge's verdict, and no one has shown support for Anna's post or tweet by liking or retweeting.

Although the link was broken, it contained Josh's documents and took her followers to a PDF of his filing.

Backstory

In April 2020, Josh was arrested on two child pornography charges. The arrest resulted from a month-long investigation by the Department of Homeland security. Josh was released on bail to await trial, which kicked off in late November and wrapped off the next month.

He was then taken to a detention center to await sentencing. Because Josh was currently being held in a detention center, he would not be permitted intimate contact with his wife. If Josh were held at federal detention in the same state, he would not be allowed close contact with his wife for the duration of his sentence.

However, visits and contact from his family, including his wife and children, will be allowed. He will also be allowed to buy personal items and property from the prison's commissary.

As long as he is on his good behavior, Josh will have recreational activities, television, and educational programs.

His crimes carry a sentence of 20 years each, and it's likely to occur in March or April 2022.

There Might Be A New Trial

According to The Sun, the reality star's legal team has filed a motion for an acquittal of a guilty verdict and a new trial. They also requested the court grant him an additional ten days to file the post-file motion.

In addition to all these requests, they also asked for a dismissal of the second count, which is the possession of child porn.

According to them, the government "failed to adduce any evidence that Duggar' knew that the visual depictions were of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct'—a necessary element for conviction of each count."

They added, "The evidence at trial established that any user of the computer never viewed certain files allegedly found on the HP desktop computer and that all the files at issue had been deleted shortly after being downloaded. The jury had no evidence that Duggar personally viewed any specific portion of any of the files allegedly found on the computer."

"It's getting harder and harder to sympathize with a woman who ignores all facts and reason—putting her kids & other kids in danger by defending a man who is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Even his siblings, including some he abused & some he did not know he's guilty," said another follower.
