The name Osama bin Laden brings to mind unpleasant memories for many Americans, and it seems the terrible legacy of the moniker continues to haunt the family of the late terrorist.

Per reports, a massive Bel-Air mansion belonging to a member of the bin Laden family faces difficulties getting off the market despite a massive price slash.

Osama bin Laden's Brother's Home Refuses To Sell

According to The New York Post, a Bel-Air estate belonging to Osama's brother Ibrahim bin Laden has seen no takers since being listed on the market in July 2021.

The property, which boasts an enviable location — a walking distance from the Bel-Air hotel — hasn't seen any buyers in more than six months, causing its sale to be cut by a whopping amount.

Per a January 26 listing by Coldwell Banker Realty, the price of the property was slashed to $26 million from $28 million, but that hasn't made it enticing enough to be snagged up by potential buyers.

The pink mansion features seven bathrooms and five bedrooms, sits on over two acres of land, and spans 7,100 square feet. Other exciting features include a pool, a greenhouse, a guest house, a four-car garage, a hot tub, and a disappearing driveway.

Interior photos of the Mediterranean villa-style mansion remain unavailable as the windows have been boarded up to discourage burglars. However, it is believed that whoever buys the house would dole out a huge amount, probably millions of dollars, for renovations.

Its listing lets potential buyers know that the sale price is based on "land value only" and location, giving the new owner the green light to renovate however which way they like.

The property has a noticeably declined state, but the attached swimming pool and spa seem to be maintained in good condition in recent times.

The Bel-Air Mansion Was Abandoned For 20 Years

Ibrahim purchased the lavish villa in the '80s with his ex-wife Christine Hartunian Sinay, a Los Angeles socialite, for $1,653,000. Initially, the mansion belonged to famous Hollywood producer Arthur Freed, known for "The Wizard of Oz."

The house was one of the first properties developed by oil tycoon Alphonzo Bell in Bel-Air in 1931.

The former couple often lived in the home with daughter Sibba Hartunian while on vacation in the United States, employing full-time chauffeurs, groundskeepers, private security, and household help to tend to their needs.

Unfortunately, Ibrahim and his family had to abandon the property in 2001 following the infamous 9/11 attacks spearheaded by his brother Osama, who founded al-Qaeda.

Ibrahim and his family were abroad on vacation when the attack went down and have since lived in fear of returning to the United States because of the notoriety of their last name.

At a point, Ibrahim rented out the property, and in 2010, it was even used as a filming location for pornographic movies. Now, it seems Ibrahim wants to do away with the mansion completely.

Ibrahim was one of Osama's half-brothers born to patriarch Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden. Mohammed, a construction tycoon, welcomed numerous children from his 22 wives and built an empire worth billions of dollars.

Osama was killed in May 2011 under the Barack Obama administration during a secret raid by the U.S Force in the secure location he was hiding out in Pakistan.

Biden, in his statement, shared, "Last night at my direction, U.S. military forces in the northwest Syria successfully undertook a counterterrorism operation… Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, we have taken off the battlefield Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi—the leader of ISIS. All Americans have returned safely from the operation."

In a follow-up press release, Biden revealed that al-Qurayshi detonated a suicide bomb that also killed his family in an "act of desperate cowardice."

The U.S Forces also safely evacuated ten other people from the building and identified al-Qurayshi's remains via fingerprint analysis and DNA. Biden's mission was praised by many on social media.
