How Inductees Are Chosen For Ceremony

A major criterion is required for an artist or band to make the nomination list. The individual or group should have dropped their first commercial song at least 25 years before the year of nomination.

“Nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry,” Rock Hall officials disclosed.

“Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation, and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.”

Fan Vote

Although the quartet of Parton, Beck, Eminem, and Duran Duran seems to be the front runners to gain entry into the hallowed hall of fame, fans still have the power to influence the number of nominees that will make the final list.
