Courteney Cox and David Arquette met while filming 'Scream' and got married not long after. The two were one of the most famous couples of the '90s and 2000s before their divorce just over a decade later. The two reprised their roles in the three sequels of the original 1996 movie.

Besides "Scream," Cox most notably starred in "Friends," "Family Ties," "Cougar Town," and several others. Arquette, on his part, is no spring chicken. The actor has featured in several well-known movies like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Never Been Kissed," and many others.

Cox And Arquette Met While Filming' Scream'

In the 1996 horror movie, the former couple were love interests. After filming, they started dating in real life and got married in San Francisco. Besides "Scream," Cox was also in "Friends," so her cast members from the series showed up for the wedding.

People like Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were in attendance and Arquette's well-known sister Patricia and her previous husband, Nicholas Cage. The event had so many celebrities that it was fodder for the media for quite some time.

Five years into their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child Coco but started having issues down the line. They tried to have another go at the union by attending couples therapy. Still, it didn't work out much, so the couple eventually divorced in 2011.

The Couple Collaborated Again In The 'Scream' Reboot

The couple united on-screen with the reboot of scream and apparently have no issues working together. Insider revealed that they enjoyed the experience and that Cox was pleased with the reunion. "It's a cathartic experience to just be able to act opposite Courteney. It's been 25 years of our lives. We've grown up together. We have a child together," Arquette revealed to The New York Times.

Cox, on her part, didn't have issues with the reunion and was happy to work with her ex-husband again. She said, "I was just so happy to be working with (Arquette and Campbell)." The "Friends" actress also talked about Arquette's reaction to their first scene together in the reboot.

"He got very emotional while he was filming it. He said the next day the crew didn't look at him," she revealed. Since the split in 2011, the couple has seemingly been on good terms and are currently co-parenting their daughter Coco.

Arquette is currently married to journalist Christiana McLarty after meeting in 2013 and getting married two years later. The couple currently has two children. Cox met musician Johnny McDaid in 2013, and the couple is still going steady.

Arquette Cried On Set

Apparently, the reunion wasn't the only thing that made Arquette tear up. Film director Wes Craven died in 2015 following a battle with a brain tumor. The cast of the crew more than felt his presence because the reboot was the first 'Scream' film not directed by him. The movie was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Arquette told The Times, "There were moments when I felt Wes's spirit around a lot. There would be a wind blowing, and I'd see Courteney's hair move back. And then it's just like…It made it really easy to tap into those feelings."

'Scream' Reboot Premise

Cox and Arquette aren't the only ones back on set. Familiar faces like Marley Shelton, Neve Campbell, Roger L. Jackson, and Skeet Ulrich will also be reprising their various roles. Yahoo revealed that the movie's synopsis showed 25 years after the gory killings began in Woodsboro.

A new killer is now roaming the town with the Ghostface mask in tow and targeting teenagers to bring back past secrets of the town. No one knows for sure how the writers intend on bringing the previous story and the new one together. Still, we're certain it'll be entertaining.
