Miss USA Cheslie Kryst Jumps To Death After Instagram 'Rest & Peace' Post

Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst jumped to her death on Sunday morning, just hours after a positive Instagram post. She was just 30 and was crowned Miss USA in 2019, as Miss North Carolina.
Her family has issued a statement, saying, "She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined." Here are all the details.
Miss USA Cheslie Kryst Last Spotted On The 29th Floor
According to media reports, former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst died Sunday, jumping from the 60-story building she lived on 350 W. 42nd Street in New York City. Authorities report her death to be at about 7:15 a.m. local time. Kryst allegedly lived on the ninth floor of the said Orion building and was seen on a 29th-floor terrace. It is unknown which floor she jumped from.
According to NY Post, sources said Kryst left behind a note stating she wanted to leave everything to her mother. Incidentally, Kryst's mom is a former Miss USA competitor herself, crowned Miss North Carolina in 2002. Further sources also said that the note did not mention the reason behind Kryst's extreme step.
Her Family Has Issued A Statement
Cheslie Kryst's family issued a statement on Sunday, saying, "In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined."
They also continued to say, "Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA, and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and colleague ā we know her impact will live on."
The family has naturally asked for privacy in the wake of the tragedy.
Miss USA Cheslie Kryst's Last Instagram Post Was Positive
Just hours before Krsyt leaped to her death, she went on Instagram and posted a lovely side profile picture of hers, along with the message, "May this day bring you rest and peace."
Kryst was an attorney and TV host and crowned Miss USA in 2019. She became one of the first group of Black women to hold titles in a single year, the others being Nia Imani Franklin (Miss America), Kaliegh Garris (Miss Teen USA), and Zozibini Tunzi (Miss Universe).
Her friends and family are in shock, as the tributes began to pour in for the beauty queen.
Wrote Olivia Culpo, "You were always so kind and full of light. The ultimate role model with so much to offer the world. Rest In Peace sweet Cheslie ā¤ļøšš"
Wrote another of her friends, "Iām in disbelief. This feels like a bad dream š You were kind, friendly, intelligent, graceful and so much more. When I met you for the first time in NYC I was taken aback by your kindness and warmth. You were a force Cheslie and my heart is broken to know you are gone so soon š May you Rest in Peace sweet angel šš¼ We will remember you always."
Meanwhile "Extra", also expressed sorrow over Kryst's death, offering "deepest condolences to all her family and friends" in a statement.
