Former ‘Miss Teen USA’ Kari Ann Peniche has filed for divorce from her husband, Justin Williams, after 9-years of marriage.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the former beauty queen filed to pull the plug on her marriage on July 23, 2020.
Peniche, who also starred in the Season 3 of ‘Celebrity Rehab,’ shares two children with her investment builder husband — a son named Preston and a daughter named Layla.
It’s unclear if she is asking for full custody of the children or any type of spousal and child support.
Kari Ann Peniche made major headlines in Hollywood several times, including winning the Miss Oregon Teen USA crown along with the Miss United States Teen title, but was stripped of it after appearing in the November 2004 issue of Playboy magazine.
The reality star was also the subject of a controversial leaked sex tape involving married stars Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart. In the video, leaked online, the former beauty queen joins the famous couple in a bathtub which was filmed by the group.
According to reports, Peniche married Williams in San Diego, CA by spiritual guru Shaman Durek — and L.A based “spiritual guide and gifted healer” in front of 100 close family members and friends.
Interestingly, the ‘ER’ star recently broke his silence on the controversial tape involving Peniche and his wife, saying that they did nothing wrong in the tape.
In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, Dane says looking back at his original reaction calling the interaction a ‘mistake’ — now says “I often think about that answer I gave. And looking back now, was it a mistake? Absolutely not.”
He added, “Three consenting adults, one of them being my wife? I wasn’t doing anything wrong.”
It appears at this point, Justin Williams has not responded to Kari Ann’s divorce filing.
Back in 2012, Kari Ann’s husband filed legal documents in LA. County Courts, claiming the reality star had exposed there 10-month old child to drugs.
At the time, Justin Williams claimed he had taken their son for
“a hair follicle drug test” after suspecting she had fallen off the wagon and was using hard drugs.
Justin claimed the test came back positive for methamphetamines.
In the documents, Justin claimed the child “has a habit of sucking on Kari Ann’s hair and clothes and I became concerned that he could be affected by drug residue.” Adding, “I do not want him to continue to be exposed to smoke from meth or to accidentally ingest illegal drugs while with Kari Ann.”
He requested full custody of the child, but it appears the couple reconciled after the incident and remained married.
