Actor Elijah Wood is turning 41 today!
Elijah Jordan Wood was born on January 28, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The actor and producer is best known for playing Frodo Baggins in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy from 2001 to 2003. He also reprised his role as Frodo in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” in 2012.

Elijah Wood first made his start on the big screen in 1989’s “Back to the Future Part II.” From there, he achieved prominence as a child actor, appearing in films like 1990’s “Avalon,” 1991’s “Paradise,” 1992’s “Radio Flyer,” and 1993’s “The Adventures of Huck Finn.”
As a teenager, he went on to star in “The War” in 1994, “Flipper” in 1996, “The Ice Storm” in 1997, “Deep Impact” and “The Faculty,” both in 1998.
After “The Lord of the Rings,” Wood appeared in “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over” in 2003, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” in 2004, “Sin City” in 2005, “Paris, je t’aime” in 2006, “Celeste and Jesse Forever” in 2012, “The Last Witch Hunter” in 2015, “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore” in 2017 and “Come to Daddy” in 2019.
He also played Ryan Newman on the FX dark comedy series “Wilfred,” which ran from 2011 to 2014. He received a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor for his role.
What Are Some Fun Facts About Elijah Wood?
Fans of “Lord of the Rings” might already be aware that Wood has a tattoo of the number nine written in the Sindarin language below his right wrist. The other cast members of “The Fellowship of the Ring” also got the same tattoo with the exception of John Rhys-Davies. His stunt double got the tattoo in his place.
In May 2006, Wood was ranked seventh on the list of Autograph Collector Magazine’s list of the “10 Best Hollywood Autograph Signers.”
In 2010, Wood visited the Chilean town of Curepto after it was hit by a 8.8 magnitude earthquake. He accompanied Chile’s First Lady Cecila Morel and visited many victims who had lost homes in the earthquake.
In 2019, Wood and Danish film producer Mette-Marie Kongsved welcomed a son together. This is Wood’s first and only child. Wood and Kongsved have been linked since 2018, but they have kept their relationship very private.
