Johnny Depp FINALLY Lands New Film, But There's A Catch

Johnny Depp has been dropped like a hot potato from all his projects, which means we may not be able to see Captain Jack Sparrow for a long time to come, if ever.
After his acrimonious divorce with Aquaman star Amber Heard, and her alleged abuse allegations, Depp has become a persona non grata for Hollywood. But he has landed a project, which may mean good news for his fans. Here's what we know...
Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Continue Court Battles
Depp and Heard are continuing their court battles and the latest to be dragged into their war is actor James Franco, rumored to be dating Heard in 2016. He has been subpoenaed according to media reports and will provide testimony as to whether he dated her while she was still married to Depp, and if he saw any of the "bruises" so mentioned by Heard in her allegations.
His fall in Hollywood came after he lost a libel case against "The Sun" when they labeled him a "wife-beater." Soon after Disney dropped Depp, from "The Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, and later Deppm was booted off the "Fantastic Beasts" movie as well.
Depp spoke about the cancel culture while accepting an award at a Spanish Film Festival earlier in 2021, saying, "It’s a very complex situation, this cancel culture or this instant rush to judgment based on essentially what amounts to polluted air. The various movements that came out, I’m sure with the best of intentions – however, it’s got so far out of hand that I can assure you, no one is safe. Not one of you, so long as someone is willing to say one thing."
Finally, Johnny Depp Is Back In The Movie Business
Depp will reportedly play French king Louis XV in the next film directed by Maiwenn, French director and actress, who will also star as Jeanne du Barry, a countess who was Louis XV’s last mistress.
The name of the movie and its exact plot are still under wraps but it's being produced by Pascal Caucheteux and Gregoire Sorlat’s Why Not Productions. Wild Bunch International will handle the world sales. The filming is likely to commence in summer, mostly in Paris, France, and especially at the Palace of Versailles.
Ironically, Louis XV was once a beloved king of France and reigned long, for 59 years, but his decline and death ended in notoriety after he was accused of corruption, much like Depp's current state in Hollywood.
Heard, meanwhile, will be seen reprising her role of Mera in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", currently in post-production.
Depp Might Have To Brush Up His French
Depp has not been seen on the big screen after Andrew Levitas’s 2020 film “Minamata." And unless Maiwenn makes a big departure and shoots in English, Depp might have to brush up his French, big time. While he did live in France for many years with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he shares a daughter Lily-Rose Depp, Depp's French may have an unbecoming American accent.
That said, the movie already is something very different for Maiween who usually does more contemporary films and has never worked on a period drama. Her last film was “DNA,” an ensemble family drama, and before that came "Mon Roi” and “Polisse”.
With the French cinema beckoning and Europe welcoming Depp with open arms, will someone in Hollywood finally take the first step with Depp? It's a wait and a watch for Depp's fans who are loyal to a fault, as Brian Cox just found out when he had to backtrack all that he said about Depp.
This was Depp's last post...
