Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, 74, was involved in a multiple car crash on Friday. One person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Schwarzenegger was spotted at the scene and did not appear to be injured.
The accident took place near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue in Los Angeles shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Several cars were involved in the accident but the Los Angeles Police Department has not indicated who was at fault.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s SUV Was On Top Of A Prius
According to TMZ and eyewitnesses at the scene, Schwarzenegger’s black Yukon SUV hit a red Toyota Prius near the intersection, about a mile from his home.
The airbags in the SUV deployed as a result of the collision, and then it started rolling on top of the Prius. The SUV continued to roll from the force of the impact until it became wedged upon a Porsche Cayenne as well.
ABC7 reports that there have been no arrests made in the accident, and police have no reason to believe that alcohol or drugs are a factor at this time. The cars were in the process of being towed shortly after the accident.
Schwarzenegger’s Reps Say Arnold Is ‘Fine’
In a statement to People, Schwarzenegger’s reps say the actor is “fine” and is more concerned about the injured driver.
“He is fine, his only concern right now is for the woman who was injured.”
The woman driving the Prius is said to have sustained some kind of head injury that left her bleeding. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Schwarzenegger remained at the scene to make sure the woman was safely transported to the hospital. He reportedly wants to check up on her personally to make sure she’s ok.
Schwarzenegger’s close friend Jake Steinfeld was at the scene supporting Schwarzenegger. Steinfeld, known for his “Body By Jake” workout system, has been a close friend of the former Governor’s for many years. He famously served as the Chairman of the Governor’s Council of Physical Fitness during Schwarzenegger’s tenure.
Accident Comes Weeks After Schwarzenegger’s Divorce Is Finalized
Schwarzenegger’s accident comes just a few weeks after his divorce from Maria Shriver was finalized on December 29. The couple filed for divorce in 2011, two months after the former Governor admitted to an affair with housekeeper Mildred Baena that led to the birth of his son, Joseph Baena.
Shriver and Schwarzenegger were married for 25 years and have four children together: Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, 24, Christina, 30, Patrick, 28, and Christopher, 24. Baena is also 24.
Baena recently appeared on the “Unwaxed” podcast with Sophia and Sistine Stallone to talk about his relationship with his famous father. Initially “nervous” about his father, he has relaxed a lot since the news broke.
“I also have to point out that with my relationship with my dad it took a little while for me and him to really get close and just [feel] like I can joke around with him and talk about anything,” Baena said.
