Rob Lowe Details His Career Journey And Most Rewarding Gig

In a cover story interview with PEOPLE Magazine this week, Lowe looked back at his rollercoaster journey in Hollywood over the past forty years.

The acting veteran has a packed schedule with two podcasts, a hit Fox action series "9-1-1: Lone Star," and his one-person stage show, which returned after a pause due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The 57-year-old expressed profound humility and gratitude towards the gifts he has been given and has worked for in the world.

Lowe found solace in acting amid early superstardom, alcoholism, and having to navigate his mother Barbara's divorces from his father and stepfather.

The star's career skyrocketed with his role in "St. Elmo's Fire" [1985]. He believed the goodwill coming to him was because of his character as he was the same person.

The actor went from fearing rejection at junior prom to having his underwear stolen by fans. Upon comparing his whirlwind romances and lifestyle to Warren Beatty's end in "Shampoo,"  he decided to change.

"It would be many years until I did, but that was always my fear, that I would end up alone. Intimacy and I were not very well acquainted until very late in my life."

The "Bad Influence" actor began a relationship with his future wife Berkoff, an on-set makeup artist who helped him get sober. He recalled:

"I had the feeling that if I was ever going to be able to make it work with anybody, it was Sheryl. Alcohol and drugs were only going to make that next to impossible."

The lovebirds were married in 1991, and Lowe has been sober since. The actor admits that nobody's life is perfect, but he is "grateful for all of it."

The "9-1-1: Lone Star" Actor Denies Ties To Oprah's Royal Interview

Many viewers are curious about which one of the A-Listers in the Montecito city area allowed Oprah to shoot her famous interview of Harry And Meghan at their home.

Speculations swirled that Lowe was the kind homeowner who let the legendary icon into his backyard, but The Blast shared that he debunked those claims.

Fans narrowed their suspicions to "The Outsiders" actor because he owns multiple properties in the Montecito city area and admitted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside nearby.

Lowe previously said the royals live over the fence from his first home in Montecito, an area that houses stars, including Elen DeGeneres, but he has no idea who owns the backyard in question.

The father-of-two has a theory that "they just plain old shot it at Oprah’s. I swear to you, and they just said it was a mystery location.”

As for how it feels to have Harry and Meghan in his neighborhood, Lowe said, "Once the royals move into your neighborhood, the neighborhood is never going to be the same.”
