Steve Harvey got candid about his relationship with friend Bob Saget.
Reflecting On Their Friendship
On Monday, the TV host, 64, talked about his friendship with his fellow comedian who passed away last weekend at age 65. Harvey revealed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that he got an email from Saget just days before his death. The latter asked the "You Got Served" star to join the "Full House" actor on his new podcast.
"The dude that you see on TV, that is not who that was. The father on Full House, now this is a different dude offstage," Harvey told host Jimmy Kimmel.
He continued, "We both were. When we would see each other off stage, we would cuss each other out. You know, he was an interesting guy."
The Last Email He Got From Saget
Harvey added, "My staff just told me today, he just emailed me two days ago and they read the email to me this morning and he wanted me to come do this new podcast he had, man. He really respected the moral stances that I take. He was just talking about all the good times we had and they read the email to me. It was a little hard. He was a great dude. Great dude."
Kimmel then discussed Saget's sense of humor and how it was different.
"Bob had the darkest sense of humor of any nice person I ever met. ... Shocking dark, and not just profane, but also twisted and very fun to experience," he said.
Mourning The Loss
Kimmel got very emotional while paying tribute to his dear friend during a pre-taped opening monologue on Monday's episode.
"If you've read anything about Bob online last night, if you saw any of the many thoughts from people who knew him personally, a word that came up a lot was 'the sweetest,'" the late-night talk show host said.
"Bob was the sweetest, he was the sweetest man, and the reason people wrote that is because it's true. It's the best word — if you had to pick one word to describe him, that was it: the sweetest," he noted.
Untimely Demise
Saget was found dead by security in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, Florida on Sunday. As per a report by The Blast, the local Sheriff’s Department responded to the hotel around 4 PM that day.
He was in town for his "I Don't Do Negative" tour in nearby Jacksonville on Saturday night. The actor even shared a selfie taken from the venue.
"Okay, I loved tonight’s show @pontevedra_concerthall in Jacksonville. Really nice audience. Lots of positivity," the actor wrote in the post.
He added, "Happened last night in Orlando last night at the Hard Rock Live too. Very appreciative and fun audiences. Thanks again to @comediantimwilkins for opening. I had no idea I did a two hour set tonight. I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it. A’ight, see you in two weeks Jan. 28 & 29 @pbimprov with my brother @therealmikeyoung - And check BobSaget.com for my dates in 2022 – – Goin’ everywhere until I get the special shot. And then probably keep going cause I’m addicted to this shit. Peace out. ✌️"
