Washington Wizards NBA broadcaster Glenn Consor put his foot in his mouth after NBA player Kevin Porter Jr. hit a 3-pointer on Wednesday against Washington, giving them a 114-111 win.
Consor went on to say how Kevin Porter Jr. was just like his dad but ended up hurting many sentiments because of a simple case of mistaken identity. Here's what went down.

When Kvin Porter Jr. known to his fans as KPJ, playing guard for the Houston Rockets. After Porter's hot, Consor said, on-air, "You've got to give credit. Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time". He continued his gaffe, saying "Boy, that one stung."
To say that Glen Consor causes a furor would be saying it lightly, although he has apologized since on Twitter, and has allegedly tried to reach out to KPJ to smoothen any ruffled feathers.
His tweet read...
I want to sincerely apologize to Kevin Porter Jr and clarify last night’s call. pic.twitter.com/UweFhFnkbt

Apparently, Glenn Consor thought KPJ was the son of Kevin Porter who started playing in the NBA in 1972, drafted by the Baltimore Bullets. Consor, as is clear to him now, was mistaken.
Kevin Porter Jr. Has A Tragic Family Story
Kevin Porter Jr.'s dad was no NBA player. He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, after being arrested in connection to a 14-year-old girl being shot and killed in 1993. He claimed that the shooting was an accident but even so, was sentenced to more than 4 years in prison.
Even after his prison time was over, Porter Sr. did not live a long and happy life. He died in 2004 after being shot in a South Seattle bar. five times. Kevin Porter Jr. was only 4 at the time.
Clearly, the memory has been a painful one for him and one that has caused plenty of social media backlash for him. Meanwhile, not everyone is okay with Consor's apology with one KPJ fan writing, "You could’ve taken 10 seconds to google him and find out his first name isn’t even Kevin.". And they are right because KPJ is Bryan Kevin Porter Jr.
LeBron James Is Not Pleased
LeBron James, currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers took it personally, on KPJ's behalf. He retweeted a tweet denigrating Consor's behavior and added some strong words of his own, writing, "Oh he thought this was cool huh!!?? Nah we ain’t going for this! Sorry but this ain’t going to fly! How insensitive can you be to say something like this? Beat it, man! I pray for you but there’s no place in our beautiful game for you!'
This was the tweet attached.

Of course, some were asking that Consor get a break because it could be a case of mistaken identity. Wrote one Twitter user who did not seem to be a big fan of KingJames, "Seems it was a case of mistaken identity. You jumping on it to be mad about something. Is there anything you don't speak out against except China? What happened to I need more information before speaking on a topic?"
On the other end of the spectrum, not everyone was feeling as brotherly towards Consor. One Twitter used took pains to explain how a case of mistaken identity was dubious, at best.
Everyone who thinks "he was thinking [mistakenly] of his dad" -- if that was true, it would be in the Media Guide. And it is not. pic.twitter.com/WU41w8vDpz

KPJ is yet to respond to any of it now. All he said, was "game".
