NBA star Tristan Thompson, recently suffered a significant loss in his paternity case, as the judge presiding over the case dismissed his Texas filing regarding his baby mama, Maralee Nichols.

According to Us Weekly, Thompson and Nichols presented their case in a virtual hearing. In June, Nichols filed a lawsuit against the star, and a month after, he retaliated with his filing in Texas.

"Regardless of whether any act of conception occurred in Texas that could have led to the conception of the child, they allegedly had a lengthy relationship spanning multiple states," a source told the outlet regarding the Wednesday hearing. "The child was born in California, the mother resides there, and so does Tristan. It would make sense the judge would dismiss this given the facts and the California lawsuit filed before the Texas one."

He Admitted To Impregnating Nichols

The star shared on Instagram that he was the father of Nichol's baby according to a paternity test.

"Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols," Thompson began. "I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established; I look forward to raising our son amicably."

Thompson also apologized to his ex, Khloé Kardashian, after their breakup of about a year.

"Khloé, you don't deserve this," the NBA star began. "You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry."

Thompson Will Most Likely Pay About $40K In Child Support

Owing to his success as an athlete and his net worth of about $45million, Thompson would most likely pay a lot in child support. However, it was reported that he spent about $40,000 monthly for his son, Prince.

"Because Tristan is paying support for other children, that will be a factor in calculating how much support he will pay for this child," lawyer Morghan Richardson explained to Hollywood Life. "Reports show that his income is about $10mil, so based on that number, and the report that he's paying $40k per month for his son when I run the calculator, I get an estimate of $34k. Per month."

The lawyer also noted that the court would also consider other things apart from his finances, although the information used is unknown to the public.

"In looking at a support award, the court will review both parents' monthly incomes and the amount of time that the child spends with each parent," Richardson explained. "All income, including money/wages, tips, commissions, bonuses, unemployment benefits, interest income, dividend income, rental income, insurance payouts – all of it is fair game for calculating child support. For awards where the parties earn extremely high incomes, such as Tristan, the court will plug the numbers into the support calculator and consider several other factors. One argument for a larger award would be to ensure that the child has the same or similar lifestyle in both homes."

His Previous Commitment

Before this, Thompson had previously offered to pay Nichols $75,000 instead of child support in a series of messages.

"My feelings haven't changed at all. I won't be involved at all. Btw if you think having this baby is going to make you some money. It's completely wrong. You are aware that I'm retiring after this season. So in terms of the support, it will be whatever is required monthly for someone unemployed. It's Texas, so that will be only a couple hundred dollars," the messages allegedly read.

"So you better off taking this 75k I'm offering cause you won't get anything near that with having a kid with an unemployed father. All you will have is a baby with a father who has zero involvement with the child and a few hundred dollars of child support a month."

Khloé's Reaction

As revealed by an inside source, the "KUWTK" star said she was "shocked to her core" when she heard about the news of her ex's cheating scandal.

"It wasn't Tristan who told her; it was the messages on social media that her team was getting away before the story came out," the insider began. "Khloe may now be saying they've been broken up since spring - but that's not the whole story. She had been giving Tristan 'one last chance' - he was getting therapy and staying single and out of trouble, and then they were going to see where they were at."
