In a past interview, Carter dished on how he came up with his fifth studio album's name.

"For a while I was thinking about what I was going to call my EP. Around the time when we were recording, there were a lot of things happening in my life that lead me back to the idea of love," he told Your EDM. "It kind of just hit me all of a sudden- that naming the EP 'LØVË' would be a powerful and universal title everyone could relate to. It explained a lot of what I was going through in my personal life and also creatively. I felt it was the best way to convey what I was going through and translate it into the music I was making."
