Who knew that a “Sesame Street” feud would be making headlines in 2022?

An old video clip of Elmo flipping out on Zoe’s pet rock, Rocco, has started to go viral in the new year. The video is a snippet of a 2004 “Sesame Street” episode called “Elmo Feels He’s Treated Unfairly By Rocco.” In the episode, Elmo loses it when Zoe tells him that he’s not allowed to eat an oatmeal raisin cookie because it had been reserved for her pet rock, Rocco.

“How? How is Rocco going to eat that cookie?” Elmo demands. “Tell Elmo. Rocco doesn’t even have a mouth. Rocco is just a rock. Rocco is not alive.”

Although the episode aired almost two decades ago, fans demanded to know exactly how that feud played out between Zoe and Elmo.

Elmo ‘Doesn’t Want To Talk About Rocco’

Elmo took to his official Twitter page to address the controversy. In a short statement, Elmo tweeted, “Don't worry everybody! Elmo and Zoe practiced sharing and are still best buds forever! Elmo loves you Zoe! Ha ha ha!”

However, he added, “Elmo doesn't want to talk about Rocco.”

Fans piled onto the post with memes, including a clip of Elmo making a cameo appearance in season 8 of episode 5 of the ABC hit medical comedy, “Scrubs.” Some fans included a “Fight Club” meme, reading, “The first rule of Elmo’s Twitter is… we do not talk about Rocco.”

However, it seems that Elmo still has some hard feelings over the incident, as Elmo did not let the drama end there.

Elmo Asks Fans: ‘Has Anybody Ever Seen A Rock Eat A Cookie?’

Less than a half-hour after his first tweet, Elmo followed it up with, “Has anybody ever seen a rock eat a cookie? Elmo is just curious.”

Fans couldn’t hold back, with one fan writing, “The way @elmo refuses to let Zoey gaslight him is the kind of energy I’m bringing to 2022.”

“Let’s keep it 100, this goes deeper than cookies,” another fan commented.

“Tell Zoe to make a twitter account so we can see the real drama,” another added.

Another fan called Trevor wrote, “I’m someone who works with rocks and fossils and yes, Elmo, you’re 100% right, rocks don’t eat cookies, (but there ARE rocks that LOOK like cookies)!”

They added, “But you have to remember, some young friendships have great imaginations, and it’s okay if they play like rocks eat cookies.”

Another fan replied to the post, saying, “Trevor, the important lesson here, is not that anyone should have imagination, it's that there are people out there who are going to gaslight us until we all fall into their pit. This is why it's important for Elmo to hold his ground. Not to believe what you know is false.”

However, other fans realized that they have seen a rock eat a cookie. A whole lot of cookies.

“Red Notice” actor Dwayne Johnson, who might be better known to some as his wrestling pseudonym “The Rock,” definitely likes to eat cookies. Johnson is no stranger to showing off his epic cheat meals on Instagram, but he was spotted devouring an entire tray of cookies in December 2018.

“And the insane cheat meal cookie train rolls on,” Johnson wrote in the caption.

“Start with 15 ginormous ‘DJ Heavens’ of milk chocolate and salted caramel chips with peanut butter in the middle,” he added.

“Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself...” he added. “Enjoy your cheat meals, my friends.” He also added the hashtags #SundayCookieTrain and #DJPoundTown.

Of course, you can’t enjoy a good cheat meal without a good movie, and Johnson added, “Insanity rolls on with one of the wildest docs I’ve seen in some time, THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS. Nature vs Nurture. Diabolical vs Human Integrity. Highly recommend.”

However, Johnson added that he has learned to share his cookies with others, saying, “And for the greedy, gluttonous record, I can take about 5 of these cookies to ‘DJ pound town’ and the rest I take to work so the crew can enjoy!”

Perhaps Johnson would be willing to share some of his “ginormous DJ Heaven” cookies with Elmo?
