It’s been a very long time since fans have been able to attend the world-famous Coachella music festival. The last time that these concerts were held, was back in 2019.
There have been numerous Coachella postponements since then, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, there is amazing news surfacing, regarding some of the headliners for its highly anticipated 2022 festival, in Indio, CA.
Kanye West And Billie Eilish To Perform At Coachella
According to Variety, Kanye West and Billie Eilish will both be performing at Coachella 2022. They will each perform on the separate weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24. Swedish House Mafia will also be performers, but it’s unclear at the time if they are headliners.
The last time that West performed at Coachella, was way back in 2011. Eilish made her debut at the festival in 2019, as that was the year that she turned into a star, at the age of 18.
Fans Hope That Coachella Will Go On As Planned
For many music fans, they have anxiously been waiting for Coachella’s return. 125,000 tickets have already been sold out, and 100,000 are expected to attend.
Coachella 2020 initially got pushed back from April 2020 to October 2020, due to COVID-19 concerns. Then, April 2021 was the next plan. The idea of an October 2021 festival was also reportedly discussed, but never ended up happening.
There is still ongoing concert about Coachella 2022, due to the different variants of COVID-19. Many fans are proposing that a better alternative can be requiring proof of COVID vaccinations, as well as negative COVID tests.
Travis Scott Is Expected To Not Perform At Coachella
In 2020, Travis Scott was one of the original scheduled performers for Coachella. The Houston superstar was also added to the 2022 lineup, but it appears that he will not make this performance, with Kanye being added.
Coachella was also pressured by the public to drop Travis from the lineup, in the aftermath of his Houston-based Astroworld Festival. That concert was where over 300 fans were injured, and 10 died from injuries sustained.
Travis has since been dropped from brand endorsement deals such as W magazine, which he made the cover of with his girlfriend and baby mama, Kylie Jenner. Travis and AdAge also agreed to put the sales of his CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer drinks on hold.
Kanye And Billie Both Had A Huge 2021
For Coachella, getting Kanye West and Billie Eilish on board for this festival was a very smart business decision. In 2021, Ye and Billie continued to show why they are two of the biggest artists in the world.
In July, Eilish released her sophomore album, “Happier Than Ever.” This project went on to become her second consecutive number one album. It was led by hits such as “My Future,” “Therefore I Am,” and “Your Power.” The singer is also set to go on her Happier Than Ever Tour in February.
Kanye also put out his highly anticipated “Donda” album, in August. That became Ye’s 10th consecutive number one album. Donda was headlined by three album listening events in stadiums in Atlanta and Chicago. The album was delayed three times, but finally ended up being available on streaming outlets on August 29.
