Kelly posted a lengthy statement on Instagram ahead of the reunion finale. She wrote, “When I yelled “I’m black” it was part of a much larger argument.”
She added, “No, I don’t identify as African American but yes I’m part black (4%) and I’ve been discriminated against for my Mexican heritage (54% Spanish/Portuguese) and btw I’m also 28% Native American. I’ve experienced racism and it’s a trigger for me when others who haven’t try to weaponize racism against me.”
Shannon quickly double-tapped the post showing her support for the message. The support is interesting given all the heat Kelly is catching at the moment. During the reunion, she was questioned about wearing a “Drunk Wives Matter” hat and why she called Black Lives Matter activists “terrorists,”
Kelly shouted “I’m black” when pressed about her actions. Fans have been over Kelly this entire season. They believe she has made ignorant comments about the pandemic. Recently, Kelly’s friend caused a stir after appearing to throw up white power symbols at Emily Simpson’s birthday dinner.
One fan wrote to Kelly, “…seriously part of me is glad you’re so unfiltered because it lets the rest of know exactly the nonsensical logic you use to explain this shit away. I hope that you can read some books on anti-racism because this tweet tells me you don’t get it at all. & saying you’re black.”
Another remarked, “Not only does @Andy and @BravoTV need to fire @RHOC_KellyDodd. They need to release a statement denouncing her bullying, racism, and constant ignorance over the years.”
“@Andy please fire Kelly Dodd. We are so over her and have been since the first season she was on. Same is true for Shannon. Please bring back Tamra!,” said one passionate fan.
Amid the drama, Kelly recently said she would not return for another season if producers bring back Braunwyn.
During an Instagram live chat with fans, Kelly said, “I know I cannot film with Braunwyn. I know for a fact that I cannot film with her. There’s just no way and if she comes back then I’m out because I know for a fact that I cannot. She’s dangerous and calling people racists and homophobic.”
People reported Bravo has yet to make any decision on casting.
