Andy Cohen sets the record straight for those expecting an apology for his drunken misconduct on New Year's Eve.
The TV and radio personality didn't sugarcoat his words as he bluntly addressed critics who slammed him for drinking while hosting CNN's New Year's Eve show.
As shared by ET, the "Radio Andy" star recently appeared on Howard Stern's SiriusXM show to discuss what went down on that fateful day.
Andy Cohen Is Not Sorry For Having A Blast On New Year's Eve
On Tuesday, January 4, the "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen" star proudly declared that he wouldn't be thrown under the bus for doing his job. The TV personality said:
"I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year's Eve. That's why I'm there. That's why they bring me there."
During the viral CNN broadcast, Cohen, alongside his close friend Anderson Cooper downed shots and cocktails throughout the four-and-a-half-hour show.
Eventually, the alcohol and lively atmosphere loosened the TV producer's tongue as he went on a rather lengthy rant against New York City's outgoing mayor, Bill de Blasio.
The controversial affair didn't end there as media personality Ryan Seacrest was also a victim of the Peabody Award winner's tongue lashing. Regardless of what he said, the 53-year-old stood his ground against critics.
The "Superficial" author clarified that he had been lucid at the start of the four-and-a-half-hour show before the alcohol kicked in during the last "45 min or hour."
Cohen stated that people were only focused on what he did wrong rather than the fantastic performance he pulled off before the controversial moment. In his words:
"We'd done 15 interviews before that point! And I won't be shamed for it. I had a blast. Anderson had a blast. We left and we were like 'That was fun! What a fun New Year's Eve.'"
If his stand on the matter wasn't clear, the father-of-one declared that he would never apologize for drinking on New Year's Eve.
The "Love Connection" Host Has Only One Regret About New Year's Eve
The Blast previously reported that the 53-year-old entertainer has just one regret about his drunken New Year's Eve dilemma.
The TV personality took to his "Andy Cohen Live" podcast to offer a sincere apology to Seacrest and ABC network for slamming their "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" show.
During the CNN broadcast, Cohen stated that anyone watching ABC was watching "nothing" as behind him, "Seacrest's group of losers" were performing.
This harsh comment left a sour taste in the "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" star's mouth as he admitted to being "stupid and drunk" for saying such spiteful words.
The father-of-one confessed that he felt terrible for criticizing Seacrest, who he also described as a "great guy." However, Cohen's apologies only extended to the E! star and no one else.
Although fans called out the TV host for his actions and demanded that he never host CNN's New Year's Eve show, the network wasn't turning their backs against their star.
The network stated that they had addressed the issue with the Emmy winner; however, the 53-year-old would continue to host their New Year broadcast.
