There is no magic “Harry Potter” spell that can fix this goof!

The “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” reunion special was finally released on HBO Max on January 1, 2022. Although “Harry Potter” fans celebrated all of the startling new revelations teased by the cast, eagle-eyed fans noticed one disconcerting photo of Emma Watson that didn’t quite look like the Hermione Granger fans had come to know.

As it turns out, the photograph wasn’t actually of a young Emma Watson at all. The girl in the photograph was actually “American Horror Story” actress EmmaRoberts.

Fans Take To Twitter To Express Their Disbelief

The photo in question shows a young girl with brown hair wearing Minnie Mouse ears and sitting at a kitchen table. The photo was directly lifted from a snap that Roberts had shared to her Instagram profile on February 8, 2012.

“So we’re all here from the Emma Watson mixup?” one fan asked.

“Just imagining her wondering why this post from 2012 is blowing up with comments,” another joked.

“So this isn’t Emma Watson?” another asked.

“Epic fail,” another wrote.

Neither actress commented on the mix-up. On Sunday, a day after the special was released, Watson shared a picture of the cover to “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” on her Instagram account to promote the reunion special.

Roberts also posted on Sunday, revealing a photo of her and pal Lily Kershaw celebrating the new year with In-N-Out burgers and fries.

One of the biggest revelations to come out of the special was that Emma Watson was ready to walk away from the franchise before the movies had wrapped filming because the fame had become a bit too much for her to take.

In the special, Watson and Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, discussed how they both had points during filming when they were considering walking away from their roles.

“You were considering pulling out,” Grint said. “I’ve never really spoken to you about that.”

“Yeah, I think I was scared,” Watson replied. “I don’t know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point where you were like, this is kind of forever now.”

“The fame thing had finally hit home in a big way,” Watson added.

Grint revealed that he also had moments “all the way through” the franchise where he found himself “contemplating what life would be like if I called it a day.”

Director David Yates, who directed the last four films in the “Harry Potter” franchise, revealed that Watson was ready to walk away from the series around the time when “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” started production.

He revealed that one thing series producer David Hayman “and the studio spoke to me about was, Emma is not sure she wants to come back to do another Potter.”

However, Watson said that, in the end, no one had to “convince” her to stay, saying, “The fans genuinely wanted you to succeed, and we all genuinely have each other’s backs. How great is that?”
