Rapper Eminem is joining other A-list celebrities and dropping a fortune on a popular ‘Bored Ape’ NFT with almost half a million dollars.
According to multiple reports, the ‘8-Mile’ star has purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for 123.45 ETH. For those of you not hip on the Cryptocurrency market that is worth about $461,868.42. The BAYC #9055 sold on an ‘OpenSea’ account called ‘Shady Holdings.’
At this point, the Detriot rapper hasn’t formally announced the massive purchase, but many believe it is him behind the account. Interestingly, the Ape is sporting a signature hat made popular by the rapper during his career. Also, the rapper has changed his social media handles to the picture of his Ape, which is a very popular move amongst owners.

Eminem is no stranger to the NFT world, after releasing ‘Shady Con’ — a collection of NFT’s with instrumental beats. The deal was a huge success following one of them selling for over $100,000. He is also set to release a set of NFT action figures. The event featured several unreleased Eminem-produced beats, crafted exclusively for the occasion. In addition to the beats, buyers had the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition set of NFT’s.
“I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on,” the rapper said. Adding, “Not much has changed for me as an adult. I’ve attempted to re-create some of those collections from that time in my life, and I know I’m not alone. I wanted to give this drop the same vibe of, ‘Oh, man I gotta get just that one or maybe even the whole set!’ It’s been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own collecting passion.”

As we reported, Eminem is joining a very exclusive club of celebrities in the BAYC — including Jimmy Fallon, Post Malone, Steph Curry, Snoop Dogg, and Jermaine Dupri. Malone dropped almost a million dollars on two Bored Apes, including #961 and #9039 for a combined total of 160 ETH. As of now, 1 Ether equals $4,689.03 – so Posty dropped a total of $734,401.60. “My friends are gonna love this, they’re going to freak out. They love the cryptos, NFTs,” he said of the purchase.
The BAYC is a huge hit amongst the rich and famous, partially because the purchase allows the owner to participate in special community events and opportunities. “BAYC is a collection of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs—unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain. Your Bored Ape doubles as your Yacht Club membership card and grants access to members-only benefits, the first of which is access to THE BATHROOM, a collaborative graffiti board,” the website reads.
The price of digital art is skyrocketing over the past few months, considering its popularity. Rapper Gunna joined the crew buying an ape for $305,000 — and to commemorate the big buy, he tattooed the digital art on his body. The 28-year-old rapper named his Ape ‘Butta’ and placed into on his body with permanent ink.
