Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin’s Divorce Not Shocking To Close Pals

2021 has been a mixture of the good, bad, and ugly in all corners of the entertainment industry. Just when things seemed to be wrapping up for the year, drama sprung again with reports that longtime couple Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin were parting ways.

As reported by People Magazine, a close source to the couple revealed that the split was “a long time coming.” “Their work schedules often kept them apart, and they just haven’t been spending a lot of time together this past year,” the source told the news outlet.

“When they did have time in their schedules, it’d often just be hours that they would be able to spend quality time together.”

Their bond further weakened during the pandemic, complicating the already rocky marriage. Having decided that things could no longer work out, Franklin filed for divorce to end the marriage.

The pastor cum film producer reportedly filed the divorce papers on Dec.20. At the time of the filing, there was no exact reason that ignited the breakup. Regardless, many have made conjectures that the duo fell out of love.

Rather than taking a joint approach to announce their split, Franklin and Good posted the same photo and caption via their individual Instagram accounts. They sat on a lawn and backed the camera in the picture, with Franklin’s arm wrapped around Good.

The caption read in part, “After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected. We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault. We believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”

The announcement also had more to reveal. The couple expressed happiness for being a blessing to themselves through the length of the marriage. Both posts on their pages were closed to comments making fans and colleagues unable to share any opinion on the breakup.

Although the close source reported that the split was inevitable, both parties seem to be suffering the effects of their decision. The pair have immersed themselves in more work to act as a salve to their heart wounds. They are both trying to stay positive and are taking each day at a time.

The pair share no kids, which luckily eases any complication that might have come from splitting visiting rights. More so, the pair can quickly adjust to the life change they are going through.

Although fans could not share their opinion about the split on the couple’s Instagram pages, they took to Twitter to air their views. The reactions were mixed, with some happy that Good and Franklin parted ways, while others were still hoping for a reconciliation in the future.
