Spelling Is No Stranger To Raising Pigs!

Believe it or not, Wilber is not the first pig that Spelling has cared for!

On February 3, 2017, Spelling shared a photo surrounded by her children as she welcomed a new addition to her growing family.

"We have a new member of the family...Nutmeg!" she wrote. "Thanks to @oinkoinkminipigs for making this happen!"

Nutmeg, a 2-year-old, 4-pound mini pig, was acquired from a breeder in Florida.

"When I got the email in October that Nutmeg had been born and would join our family in a couple of months I literally squealed with excitement," Spelling wrote.

"Nutmeg is so sweet and such a great addition to our family!" she added. "My babies absolutely love her! Welcome to the family Nutmeg!"

Warning: Mini Pigs Don't Always Stay Mini

According to the American Mini Pig Association, mini pigs can grow to be an average of 20 inches tall, which is about the size of a Siberian Husky! They also may be cute and fun to carry around when they're small, but mini pigs can ultimately weigh between 50 and 150 pounds!

There are many different types of breeds of mini pigs, but the standard American mini pig breed has been developed over the years by combining traits from breeds around the world to make them friendly pets and household companions that can be suitable for both indoor and outdoor living.

Instead of buying a mini pig from a breeder, which can prove to be extremely expensive, there are many reputable pet and animal sanctuaries across the United States that take in and foster out rescue pigs for anyone looking to add a mini pig companion to their family.

In addition to pigs, the Spelling family has also raised dogs, chickens, a goat, bearded dragons, and even a hairless guinea pig!
