Urban Meyer Fired For Kicking The Kicker, Not Dancing With College Student

The now former coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Urban Meyer who famously was caught on tape dancing with a college student at a bar in Ohio a couple of months back has been fired from his job.

Apparently it wasn't his conduct at that Ohio bar after ditching the team that lead to him losing his job. Although, it does seem like it was part of the many questionable actions and decisions that the coach made throughout his only season with the team that lead to his firing.

Recently the Jacksonville Jaguars' former long time kicker came forward and said that he was essentially physically assaulted by the coach during warm-ups. That apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back. Here's a quick recap though of Urban Meyer's only season with the team. By the way the season's obviously not done!

The married football coach was caught on tape dancing with a much younger woman at an Ohio bar a couple of months back. The fact that Meyer is a married man, and was caught on tape a little too close for comfort with another woman may be reason enough for scandal.

However, events leading up to his partying escapades may have just as equally contributed to the overall bad look that the incident gave both Meyer and the team. Essentially he ditched his team after they played and lost to the Browns in Ohio to stay behind with his family. The Meyer's have a home and business in the area, so it wouldn't have been too bad had he not been caught on tape dirty dancing.

After the incident coach Urban Meyer reportedly refused to hold a meeting with the entire team to address the situation. Instead, he talked to players by position. It wasn't until a couple of days after the videos surfaced that he was able to face the full squad. That's not necessarily what you'd want out of your head football coach.

Former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo seemingly out of the blue gave an interview to the Tampa Bay Times Wednesday. In which he details that coach Urban Meyer kicked him in the leg when he was stretching. Lambo acknowledged that the kick from the coach wasn't necessarily the hardest he's ever been struck. He mentioned though that it wasn't a love tap. Lambo tells the paper,

"I'm in a lunge position. Left leg forward, right leg back, ... Urban Meyer, while I'm in that stretch position, comes up to me and says, 'Hey dips---, make your f---ing kicks!' And kicks me in the leg."

After news broke on the kicker story sports media went into a frenzy. With certain analysts already anticipating that Urban Meyer was going to get the boot. Team owner Shad Khan published a statement on the team's official website announcing the firing and naming coach Derrell Bevell the team's coach for the remainder of the season. In part of the statement Khan alluded to the bar incident saying,

"As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen."
