Britney Spears is being bullied on Instagram for showing off a skimpy backyard look with a little breeze and a piercing gaze. The pop princess, 38, has had her social media activity under mass scrutiny as her 2008-commenced conservatorship is extended through February 2021, with the #FreeBritney movement refusing to budge over those repetitive posts.
Britney updated her Instagram on Wednesday with a setting and look that was all-too-familiar for her 26.4 million followers. Check out the latest from the “Toxic” singer below.
Scroll for the video. You’ll recognize the exact same outfit and L.A. backyard setting from the above photo, with this being exactly why Spears found herself bullied. The singer, posting repetitively both indoors and out throughout 2020, recently joked about wearing the “same top 17 times,” but her followers, usually understanding, were taunting her with this post.
The video, showing the blonde beauty delivering a piercing, deep-eyed gaze while in a skimpy white crop top, came simply captioned: two rose emoji sandwiching a lip one.
Britney, who has stood firm with her posts saying both that they are not old and – for the flower-crown and backyard ones – part of photography project “Project Rose,” now sees herself flooded with hurtful comments. Over 2,900 users liked a comment reading:
“I have seen this top more than my own clothes.”
“Lol” and “good one” were replies further tormenting the singer, with one fan also writing: “Can’t wait to see you in this white top 15 more times xo.”
Britney, who this month delivered a rare video clap-back to shut down suggestions that her posts are recycled, has let her fans know that the backyard photos and videos are something everyone can expect more of.
“Yes, I know. I did wear the same top 17 times, but it’s for a project – Project Rose. And you will be seeing way more of Project Rose in the future,” she said in the second week of September.
Britney’s fans have been deeming her Instagram a setup, arguing that she has zero control over the feed. All this, despite the singer calling herself “authentic.”
A popular comment today deemed today’s video “creepy,” with another fan writing: “Every post is so unsettling ?.”
Britney’s repetitive posts kicked off in early 2020 as she was repeatedly shot against a red wall. That wall progressively turned yellow, then white, also seeing the singer shift to outdoor settings this summer. Britney’s 68-year-old father Jamie Spears controls her finances and many other aspects of her life. His grip largely factors into replies on Britney’s Instagram, where #FreeBritney regularly begs the star for a “sign” that she’s either safe or in danger.
