It was a devastating loss for Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard. She took to Instagram last week to share that they lost their third baby early on in the pregnancy. They had no idea yet what the gender of this little one was, but they did pick out a name. The former “Counting On” stars chose to name the baby River Bliss Dillard.
Jill and Derick have two sons, Israel and Samuel, and they were all quite excited to be adding another member to their growing family. However, it was not meant to be. On October 11, Jill indicated that she had miscarried. At that point, fans had no idea what they were expecting. Her post, which also came with a link to a video of their recent journey, was totally unexpected and left Duggar fans pretty shocked.
Since then, the mom of two has taken some time to be with her family and a few friends as a way to heal and to “regroup,” as she said in her recent Instagram stories.

Jill And Her Family Received Lots Of Love And Support
Sitting in a Walmart parking lot waiting to pick up an order, Jill took the time to update her fans on how she has been coping since the loss. She indicated that she and Derick have had plenty of support from their loved ones. She thanked them and was highly appreciative of the help they received during this “crazy season,” as she called it.
“We’ve just been taking more family time, kind of regrouping and getting back into some normal rhythms, but just wanted to hop on here and say thank you to family and friends who have reached out and supported us, bringing us meals, cleaning our house, all the things,” Jill continued.
Also in her Instagram stories was a special collage of the things that her friends and family have done for them. The pictures suggested that they helped with food, child care, and showering her with flowers and gifts during this difficult time. Texts and prayers were also included.

Relying On Her Faith
It’s certainly no secret how much the Duggar’s conservative faith is a big part of their upbringing. Despite Jill and Derick breaking away from the TLC reality show, and ultimately distancing themselves from Jill’s family, they still seem to hold onto their faith. Although they are not quite as restrictive as her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the Dillards have set their own rules for their family of four.
A few days after their post about losing their baby, Jill shared a couple of photos on social media showing off what looks to be temporary tattoos. One was written on the inside of her wrist that says, “Jesus only Jesus.” The other tattoo that was on the side of her hand came from a Bible verse. It said, “He is my peace.” Along with the two pics, Jill posted the lyrics to a song that most likely has gotten her through her devastating ordeal.
It looks like Jill just needs some time to heal both physically and emotionally from her loss. It may be a little more time before she is back on Instagram, but her fans seemed to appreciate the fact that she updated on how she’s been coping.
