According to reports, Hitch — who starred in Season 2 of the popular reality show — died on Tuesday night after fighting the virus. The reality star was hospitalized in Florida, and placed in the ICU while trying to fight the disease. Jason’s sister, Shannon, confirmed the death saying that the family was able to be by his bedside and hold his hands in the final moments.
Unfortunately, Jason was not vaccinated before contracting the virus — but, his family claims he had NO other preexisting medical conditions. Officially, the reality star died from complications to COVID-19, but other factors might have come into play. “He was a true and honest shooter, a great officer, and leader to his men,” his sister said.
’90 Day Fiance’ Star Dead At At 45 After Contracting Coronavirus
It’s unclear at this time if Hitch was fighting the disease for a long time, or if he was rushed to the hospital in the past few days. Either way, it’s shocking considering he was a healthy 45-year-old military man.
If you are a fan of the show, you will recognize Hitch from Season 2 of the show, where he married Cassia Tavares. At the time, the woman moved from Brazil to be with Jason, who was a first lieutenant in the Army reserves. The couple lived in Florida for some time but separated in 2017, and ultimately divorced in 2018.
At the time, Jason revealed the reason for the couple’s divorce, saying they didn’t have a “good foundation” in their relationship. “A successful relationship is communication, physical attraction, and doing whatever it takes,” he said in an interview. Adding, “Right now it’s time to go in different directions. I think we’ll remain friends. She knows I have her best interests at heart.”
Jason Hitch Was A Healthy Military Man Before Succumbing To COVID
The reality star said he was confident Cassia had REAL feelings for him and married her hoping to have a long future together. She did not come here just to become an American citizen. She had a good life in Brazil. She was about to finish college. She didn’t have to marry me,” he said.
In the end, the former couple faced their fair share of problems over the years, including domestic violence allegations. Cassia reportedly called the police on her husband after an altercation in January of 2017. The reality star was arrested and faced battery charges. The case was reportedly dropped, and the couple decided to split. “There will be no alimony payments, no fighting over anything,” Hitch said. Adding, “I’ll be deployed from nine months to a year, but it wasn’t a factor in the divorce. If there is indecision, you can’t build a foundation on that.”
