Megan Thee Stallion is not having it with the way the media is painting what went down between her and Tory Lanez.
The HTown Hottie took to Twitter to rant about entertainment blogs’ reporting of the event and accused them of trying to gaslight her.
Megan Thee Stallion Slams The Media Coverage Of The Case
In her Twitter rant, Megan claimed that the headlines about the shooting case were trying to downplay how bad things got. She wrote, “Like I’ve been SHOT and the focus of some these headlines are dismissing that I was attacked with a WEPON WHILE I WAS UNARMED.”
She accused the blogs of trying to paint the shooting as “a cat fight between friends” before lamenting, “why do I have to relive this with everyone on the internet every day ? And watch y’all gaslight me.”
In a follow-up tweet, the recent graduate called out entertainment sites and asked if they no longer use credible sources before publishing stories. She then asked, “Or is it just like a new I got paid to post this or I heard out from my home girl type policy these days.”
Megan’s rant was well-received by fans on the internet who described the media’s coverage as “misogynistic.” One comment from an angered fan read, “misogyny permeates every single corner of the universe and no one wants to call it what it is. people still say women have it easy, as they watch the best of us get abused by strangers all day long. I’m sorry Meg, you don’t deserve this.”
Witness Says Megan Fought With A Friend
Megan’s outrage was in response to a headline first published by TMZ that claimed the Texas rapper had fought with a friend before the shooting occurred.
As reported, at the event where the shooting went down, Megan was joined by a friend named Kelsey Nicole and Lanez, and the two pals had an argument before things got out of hand.
A witness who spoke to the police amid the trial claimed that Nicole and Megan argued because the former was jealous of a romantic relationship between Lanez and Megan. Their argument reportedly escalated to a fight, and moments later, Lanez’s gun went off.
The witness alleged that the muzzle gun that hit Megan went off closer to Nicole. Lanez’s lawyer supported the witness’ statement during the trial, saying:
[Muzzle flash detail is] corroborated by the gunshot residue found on the other female’s hands. It was further established that Megan gave several inconsistent accounts of what happened that night and that she omitted key information to the police.
Lanez Yelled A Slur During The Incident
During the preliminary hearing, one major piece of information shared by LAPD detective Ryan Stogner was that Lanez, who was intoxicated, yelled “dance b*tch” to Megan before shooting her in the foot.

The officer also claimed that Megan informed him that Lanez begged not to be reported to authorities and even offered her money because he was on probation. Initially, Megan didn’t reveal what happened, claiming she was trying to protect her fellow rapper.
However, Lanez claims the gun only went off because he was trying to protect his “girl.”
