The 31-year-old has been in the spotlight recently endangering the welfare of a child. Unfortunately for Jana, the charge came one day after her older brother, Josh Duggar, was found guilty in his child pornography case.
On Friday, December 10, Jana was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment for an incident that occurred on September 9.
Jana is now breaking her silence.
Jana Duggar is speaking out!
On Tuesday, December 14, she took to her Instagram Story to dispel any rumors and set the record straight.
“The raw facts: I was babysitting a few months ago when one of the children wandered outside alone. A passerby who saw the child called the police. This resulted in a written citation, as well as a follow-up with child welfare who concluded that it was an accident and the child was unharmed,” she wrote.
Jana explained police recognized the case “of a child slipping out of the house when you turn your back for a moment.”
Jana says it was an 'accident' that happened so 'quickly'
“It all happened so quickly and was scary. I am grateful for law enforcement and those who protect and serve our community. I was certainly never arrested like some may have implied,” Jana explained. “In the end I was just upset at myself that it had happened at all, but so thankful it all ended safely and that’s truly what mattered most to me.”
Jana explained why she need to speak out before getting into all the details of what happened that day.
“I’m only sharing this because the media has been having a field day with it all. I prefer a more private life, but I know my last name means that everything we do is public criticism and interest, especially during this time,” she said in reference to her brother’s recent trial.
