Kim Kardashian has filed documents to become "legally" single -- despite Kanye West's recent pleas to get back together with his wife.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Kardashian has gone to court to get a judge to sign off on bifurcating the "marital status" in her divorce -- which will legally make her a single woman. In other words, the divorce will not be completely settled, but Kim is free to marry someone else.
In the filing, Kim is reiterating that she wants to drop "West" from her last name and wishes to legally end her marriage to Kanye West. Now, a judge will have to sign off on the request -- unless Kanye fights it -- for the single status to be updated. Unfortunately, there is little or no legal reason why Kim's shouldn't be allowed to execute this in the case.
Kim Kardashian Requests To Be Legally Become A Single Woman
Kim's lawyers filed the documents on Friday, which is interesting timing, considering Kanye West professed his love to her on Thursday night -- during his sold-out L.A. concert with Drake.
As we reported, Kanye performed his hit record 'Runaway' and freestyled the lyrics to include the line "Run back to me ... more specifically, Kimberly." The former couple was also spotted at the celebration of life for Louis Vuitton's creative director, Virgil Abloh. The run-in had many fans speculating the couple might be getting back together, following an interview where Kanye point out the couple is not yet divorced.
This is the second time Kanye West has made a public plea to Kardashian to reconcile their marriage. The rapper recently released a 5-minute video over Thanksgiving, confessing his issues with alcohol and struggles with mental health -- admitting he embarrassed his wife in the process.
Kanye West And Kim Kardashian Are NOT Yet Divorced!
At this point, the couple is NOT divorced. But, the problem is...Kim just paved the way for the official and legal divorce to become a reality.
We broke the story, Kim Kardashian already started splitting up the couple's estate by buying Kanye out of their marital home in Hidden Hills for $23 million. Remember, the reality star is currently undergoing renovations on the home which includes building an underground vault on the property.
The former couple has already agreed to joint custody of their four children, and are wealthy enough that neither will pay the other any child support. In other words, the only thing left in the marriage to negotiate is splitting up any businesses the couple started while together. As we reported, there is a prenuptial agreement in place, so most of this will be easy to work out.
Kim Kardashian Flaunts PDA With 'SNL' Star Pete Davidson
In most cases, celebrities will file a bifurcation on their marital status when they simply want to move on with their lives. It's not a good sign for Kanye, who is clearly trying to win back his wife. Plus, Kardashian is spending time with her new fling -- Pete Davidson -- and hasn't shied away from showing off a little PDA with her new man.
If Kanye is hoping to get Kim back, the days are now numbered.
