Jessie James Decker is breaking her silence on the tragic death of former NFL wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, a teammate of her husband and family friend.
The country music star posted an emotional tribute to the football player on Instagram, which included a montage of pictures of Thomas and her husband -- Eric Decker -- who played together in the NFL. The Decker family was close with Demaryius off the field and says when she got the call, she simply dropped to her knees.
"When we got the call last night I dropped to my knees and I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard in my life and the tears just won’t stop. I’ve never seen Eric like this before, his heart is in pieces. We loved Demaryius like he was family. The relationship he and Eric had was beautiful and special. His heart, his infectious smile, his kindness, his soul. Eric and Demaryius were truly like brothers and anyone that was around them could feel how special their friendship was together on and off the field," Jessie wrote.
NFL Star Demaryius Thomas Found Dead Inside The Shower, Possible Medical Issue
According to Roswell, Georgia Police, Demaryius was found dead inside his home on Thursday. At this point, investigators believe the death might be the result of a medical issue and don't believe there was any foul play. The NFL legend was only 33 years old. "He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering," a cousin told ESPN. Adding "We're not sure when he died. We just spoke to him this morning."
Initial reports say the football star was found on his back in the shower and might have been dead for hours before paramedics arrived. Dispatch reports indicate that emergency responders had to push their way into his gate to get to the player. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Demaryius was a man of faith which is why he would quote almost every single day “Thank God for another day," Decker captioned the photos.
She continued, "DT we love you so much and we’re grateful for the years we had together. We will miss you."
The Denver Broncos -- a team Thomas played for -- issued a statement on the tragic death saying, "We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas." Adding, "D.T. was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates and coaches, and our fans. Recently retiring as a Bronco, we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history. Demaryius' humility, warmth, kindness, and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him."
