Drew Barrymore recently opened up about seeking mental health support after her difficult separation from Will Kopelman.
The actress dropped the shocking news in a candid confession during an interview with Machine Gun Kelly on "The Drew Barrymore Show."
During their discussion, the "Bad Things" singer mentioned his mental health struggles, which motivated the "Charlie's Angels" star to narrate the emotional turmoil she experienced in the past.
Drew Barrymore Needed Help Following Her Heartbreaking Divorce
In 2016, Barrymore's mental health took a beating following her divorce from Kopelman. After nearly four years together, the former spouses ended their love story with painful separation.
The Hollywood sensation revealed to Kelly that she wasn't in a good place during that period as her children were at stake. The "Blended" star said:
"I had these two kids I had to fight for and I needed help. So I started reaching out to different people and eventually I made some big sweeping changes in my life. I got on a whole new track. Not back on track, but a whole new one that I helped build."
On December 9, the mother-of-two admitted on "CBS This Morning" that her conversation with the "Forget Me Too" rapper wasn't supposed to involve her private life.
However, the musician's vulnerability inspired the talk show host to share details about her divorce. The 46-year-old also told "CBS This Morning" about her sobriety journey.
The "50 First Dates" actress decided to quit drinking after realizing that alcohol wasn't a positive part of her life. Now, the entertainer has successfully achieved two and a half years of abstinence.
The "Santa Clarita Diet" Star Struggled With Her Mental Health As A Teenager
In September, PEOPLE shared how Barrymore opened up to viewers about her past struggles with mental health during an episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show."
The actress rose to fame as a child star in the entertainment business, but this level of success at a young age turned the "Little Girl Lost" author into a wild teenager.
The Flower Films founder's parents sent the "out of control" teenager to a mental health institution, where she stayed for a year and a half to get their daughter back on track.
The TV personality believed fans needed to hear this story as it proved she became the woman she was today by overcoming her past trials. In her words:
"I will never lose sight of this part of my story and I have seen and been through things and they've helped me just recognize in all of us that we go through stuff."
The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Alum Is On Good Terms With Her Ex-HusbandÂ
Last month, The Blast reported that Barrymore proved she has a big heart as the entertainer spent Halloween with her ex-husband and his new wife, Alexandra Michler.
The "Never Been Kissed" star revealed that she went trick-or-treating with the couple and even described Michler as a wonderful stepmother to her daughters Olive and Frankie.
The 46-year-old advised families in similar co-parenting situations to take the "high road" and move forward with nothing but "love and good intentions."
