Rihanna has literally been taking out the trash in her underwear. The 32-year-old singer and Fenty founder doesn’t miss an opportunity to make a photo op a business opportunity, though, with the garbage moment forming promo for the Barbados-born star’s best-selling SavagexFenty lingerie line.
Rihanna, who hasn’t released an album since 2016 and seems now more a business mogul than a music face, proved just why her brand is a best-selling one – it’s called having a great ambassador. Check it out below.
Scroll for the photo. It comes as the “Work” singer, worth an estimated $600 million in 2020, continues to plug her popular underwear line amid her likewise popular Fenty Beauty and 2020-launched Fenty Skin brands.
The snap showed Rihanna photographed at night and on a path backed by flowering bushes. The hitmaker had a giant black trash bag in each hand, also wearing gloves and shades, with the wardrobe kept skimpy and relevant – panties from RiRi’s 2016-founded line were worn alongside pink kitten heels, with an “END RACISM” t-shirt backing Black Lives Matter.
A caption from SavagexFenty read: “Take out the trash, Bad Gal style.”
@badgirlriri is, of course, Rihanna’s Instagram handle. The caption also shouted out Harper’s Bazaar magazine, where Rihanna’s “remarkable journey: from teenage pop star to entrepreneur and advocate for equality” saw her profiled just four days ago.
Undies might sell two for $29 as SavagexFenty gathers more customers, but the singer-songwriter has a much higher-end gig going on. Her luxe fashion Fenty label is in partnership with the LVMH giant owning luxury luggage brand Louis Vuitton.
The trash bag comments proved interesting.
The photo, now sitting at over 200,000 likes, quickly snagged three heart emoji from 56-year-old reality star Lisa Rinna. It also brought in comments seemingly geared towards celebrating Fenty Beauty’s success – and trashing the brand’s competitor, Kylie Cosmetics.
“Throwing away Kylie Cosmetics. A QUEEN!!” one fan wrote.
Whatever the brand is doing is working, though. One fan replied: “Currently laying on my living room floor in my Savage X Fenty stockings ??.”
The army of celebrities (below) fronting SavagexFenty hasn’t all been smooth sailing, though. 35-year-old ambassador Draya Michele is rumored to have been dropped by SavagexFenty following her shooting joke about rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Following Draya’s joke – she alluded to “Savage” rapper Stallion’s shooting being sexy – SavagxFenty unfollowed the “Basketball Wives LA” alum, also removing all promo photos of her from its feed. The brand has, however, snapped up 25-year-old Meg as its summer 2020 face and just announced singer JoJo as a new ambassador.
Other ambassadors for SavagexFenty include singer Normani, 38-year-old pop star Christina Milian, “WAGS” star Nicole Williams, and Kylie Jenner’s best friend Stassie Karanikolaou. Joining them are actress Sydney Sweeney and “Wild ‘N Out” star B. Simone.
