Anthony Anderson is dropping his comedic hat and taking on a more serious role with his latest creative venture in Law & Order."
As the final season of the Emmy nominated ABC sitcom "Black-ish" draws near, Anderson will continue gracing the small screens by reprising another role.
The actor gave the details about why he chose to star again in the revival of "Law & Order," as well as information on the series production.
Anthony Anderson Talks New 'Law & Order' Casting
The criminal investigations team is heralding a returning member in the person of Anderson, and he is thrilled about this news.
On Monday, December 6, the producer told ET he could not wait to explore the new creative field through his role on "Law & Order."
Anderson flew out at 7 a.m. on December 7 for hair and makeup testing, as well as wardrobe fittings. He will begin shooting at 5 a.m. on December 8.
The "Kangaroo Jack" actor joins the NBC network to play the role of Detective Kevin Bernard since the show was taken off the air in 2010.
Anderson expressed that he resumed this role to have fun in the dramatic space for a while. The outlet notes that he is contracted to star on the program for one season.

Anderson has starred in and executively produced notable TV shows and films. He also plays a father of five children on "Black-ish."
The actor is a parent to 25-year-old daughter Kyra and 21-year-old son Nathan with partner Alvina Stewart. He spoke to LX News about why they have not featured in his films.
Anderson said Kyra is a graduate student at the University of Houston while Nathan, who follows his acting footsteps, is too cool for roles like "Black-ish."
The father-of-two revealed that he wanted his young and talented son to play Andre. Jr, but his off-the-charts swag factor stopped him from pinning down the nerdy role.

The "Me, Myself, and Irene" actor said his son has "too much swag," unlike him. He confirmed that Nathan is on a new Netflix show, "Rev Run," where he plays Rev Run's son.
The "Black-Ish" Star Details Final Season And Receiving Covid Vaccine
In a recent episode of PEOPLE's podcast, Anderson shared that he got his Covid vaccine shot in March because he is an African-American man with Type 2 diabetes in his fifties.
The game show host also partnered with Advil for the #aftermyshot campaign, which sheds light on vaccine side effects.
Anderson said his immunization allows him to constantly kiss and hug his mother, have people over for backyard cookouts and family dinners, as well as travel.
The "Exit Wounds" actor teased the upcoming bittersweet "Black-ish" finale, admitting it was best to wrap up while the show has a huge following.
Anderson promised the show would tie up all loose ends and address deeper societal issues that significantly affect the world and the community. The final season airs on January 4, 2022, on ABC.
