Every Wednesday night AEW continues to prove why it's one of the best wrestling promotions.

Considered WWE's top competitor, AEW is looking to bring back the true art of professional wrestling.

With a roster filled with ex WWE stars and new talent, AEW is becoming the must-watch wrestling show on Wednesdays.

Last night's edition of AEW Dynamite was another success filled with lots of action, progression with storylines, and a few surprises.

So let's take a look at a few of the highlights from last night's episode.

Cody's Challenger

As the inaugural TNT Champion, AEW executive Cody Rhodes promised to be a fighting champion.

Every week he issues an open challenge for anyone who wants to contend for the title. So far there's been a few AEW members along with independent wrestlers to step up.

Prior to the show, AEW's social media pages announced Cody would take on one of the biggest stars in independent wresting.

Eddie Kingston was revealed as the challenger. After delivering a passionate promo, Kingston stepped into the ring with Cody.

The two engaged in a heated match, and at one point thumbtacks were used.

Kingston definitely gave Cody a challenge, but at the end Rhodes retained the championship.

Kingston impressed everyone with his in-ring work, and fans took to Twitter asking AEW to sign the star.

Based on his performance last night, odds are good that fans will be seeing more of Kingston in AEW.

Jon Moxley And Darby Allin Alliance

At last week's Fight for the Fallen event, Jon Moxley successfully retained the AEW World Championship against Brian Cage.

Mox's win came when Cage's manager Taz threw in the towel after Mox put Cage's arm in a submission move.

Following the match, Darby Allin returned to save Moxley from a post-match beatdown from Cage.

Allin's issues with Cage go all the way back to the May PPV Double or Nothing. Cage cost Allin a championship opportunity during the Casino Ladder Match.

Now, it looks like the feuds with Allin and Moxley are going to continue for Brian Cage. But he's got help in the form of AEW's newest signee Ricky Starks.

Last night, Cage and Starks delivered a brutal attack on Allin, but Moxley stormed the ring with a barbwired bat to scare off the men.

Next week, Moxley and Allin will team up to take on Cage and Starks in a tag match.

Based on the reaction on social media, fans are excited about Moxley and Allin's new alliance.

A lot of comparisons have been made between Moxley and Allin. Not only are they two of AEW's popular stars, but they're also considered loners who love to go extreme.

Fans are eager to see the two team up and wonder which direction their storyline is headed.

Inner Circle Reunion

One of the biggest factions in AEW is The Inner Circle.

The stable was created by Chris Jericho and consists of Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, and Santana and Ortiz.

The heel group goes around asserting their dominance and flaunting their egos.

During last night's show, Jericho and Hager took on the team of Jurassic Express. It looked like it was going to be a loss for Jericho and Hager until a masked wrestler named Serpentico entered the ring.

After helping Inner Circle score the win, Serpentico's mask was removed to reveal that it was really Sammy Guevara.

As AEW fans know, Guevara was suspended for 30 days due to inappropriate comments he made about WWE wrestler Sasha Banks.

With Guevara's suspension over, he returned to television to reunite with his Inner Circle mates.

Next week, Inner Circle will have their hands full when they compete in a 5 on 6 tag match against Jurassic Express and The Best Friends.

Tag Team Action

AEW has an huge tag team division and the company has been praised with their work in creating storylines for the division.

Last night's Dynamite saw lots of action with The Young Bucks taking on The Butcher and The Blade in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

The fight started in the kitchen and continued throughout the arena until they arrived at the ring.

The end of the match saw the Bucks jump from the top of the entrance tunnels to put the Butcher and Blade through tables.

The match was applauded by AEW fans and shows why the Bucks are one of the best teams in the business.

Speaking of tag teams, AEW continued to foreshadow a split between Adam Page and Kenny Omega.

After being attacked by The Dark Order, FTR came to Page's rescue to ward off Brodie Lee's henchmen. Page's partner was nowhere to be seen, but eventually came out after FTR made the save.

As Page recovered from the attack he seemed less than pleased to see Omega.
