There is less than a month to go until the “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts” special premieres on HBO Max and fans can’t take the wait!
As The Blast previously reported, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” first premiered on November 14, 2001, which makes the film officially over 20 years old.
The special will feature the cast behind fan-favorite characters Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Director Chris Columbus will also make an appearance, along with cast members from all eight of the “Harry Potter” franchise.
Other members of the cast that will be included in the special are Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart.
Is J.K. Rowling Going To Appear In The Special?
Noticeably absent from the headlining names is author J.K. Rowling.
The special is described as an “enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews, and cast conversations.”
The Blast has since reported that Rowling has not recorded any new interviews for the special and will not take part in any cast conversations. However, she will be shown in archived footage seen throughout the special.
All three “Harry Potter” stars have spoken out against Rowling’s insensitive comments. “Saturday Night Live” comedian and “Harry Potter” fan Pete Davidson said that he was “very hurt” by Rowling’s “very disappointing” remarks.
“What’s wrong with her?” he asked. “She creates a seven-book fantasy series about all types of mythical creatures living in harmony with wizards and elves and the one thing she can’t wrap her head around is Laverne Cox? She’s a national treasure.”
Fans Can’t Wait To Get Their Invitation To Hogwarts!
Fans have serious nostalgia waiting for their Hogwarts letter to arrive in the mail, and the new teaser capitalizes on that childhood nostalgia all over again.
“This will be the best reunion in the history of cinema,” one fan wrote.
“If Tom Felton doesn’t say ‘POTTAH!’ in the reunion once, I’m gonna be so disappointed,” another fan joked.
“I can’t wait to see Dan, Emma, and Rupert together after all these years,” said another fan. “Such an iconic trio.”
“This is going to be historic,” another commented. “Can’t believe this would be happening really I can’t control my tears.”
“I know we’re all excited about the cast returning, but can we also talk about how magical the music sounds?” another asked. “I don’t remember that particular track from the films but I love it.”
Another added, “I can surely say this will be the biggest reunion of the decade for the best film series of all our childhood I still can’t believe it’s been nearly 9 years and will complete its 10th year very soon, time really passed so fast.”
“I’m sad that Helen McCrory, Richard Harris, and Alan Rickman didn’t get the chance to join the reunion,” another added. “May they all rest in peace.”
