Is comedian Jeff Garlin the latest celebrity to be canceled?

The star of the ABC comedy “The Goldbergs” hasn’t been fired, but he did confess that there have been investigations into his behavior on set for the past three years due to allegations that he creates an unsafe working environment.

Garlin, 59, is known for playing Murray Goldberg, the patriarch of the Goldberg family. He has also appeared as character Jeff Greene on the HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Garlin Insists He Was Not Fired From 'The Goldbergs'

In a lengthy interview with Fox News, Goldberg stated that he was not fired from “The Goldbergs” and insisted that he has never behaved inappropriately or physically threatened anyone on the show. He did further reveal, however, that he and Sony did have a “difference of opinion” concerning his behavior on set.

"It’s always the same thing. It’s about me and my silliness on set,” he said. “They don’t think it’s appropriate. I do. That’s where we’re at. I’ve not been fired because of it. We just think differently.”

He compared his time on the ABC sitcom to his behavior on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

"Now when I’m at ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ for example, if I’m not doing the things that we’re talking about, Larry David—or a cameraman, the producer, who’s a woman—lots of people come up to me and ask me if I’m okay,” he added.

“I need to do what I need to do to keep my energy up and do what I do," he continued. "So I don’t know what to say. To me, if you’re a stand-in on a show and you don’t like the content or the behavior... If someone’s going after you, that’s different. But in terms of in general—well, then by God, quit, go someplace else."

Garlin Says That He Will Apologize To Anyone He’s Offended

Garlin doesn’t believe in cancel culture or “people getting offended on someone else’s behalf.”

He did say, however, if someone was offended by his “words or actions,” he would “respect their wishes.” One of the points of contention seems to be that Garlin likes to greet people by hugging them, which not everyone is okay with. It is a practice that he says he will discontinue.

"When I do shoot more days, just to make it go smooth, I will not be doing any of my silly stuff or anything, out of respect,” he continued. “I’m just going to keep it on the QT, because you know why? They’re my bosses. And they have every right to have the set be the way they want.”

He added that this conversation might not mean much in the long-term, as he doubts that “The Goldbergs” will be renewed for another season.

Although “The Goldbergs” might not be back, the talk of “cancel culture” is still very much alive in Hollywood.

Bill Burr Is Not Worried About Being Canceled

Fellow stand-up comedian Bill Burr recently spoke about cancel culture after “The Mandalorian” co-star Gina Carano was fired for controversial comments she made on social media.

“I’m not saying that I never have made mistakes, and most times I’ve, you know, pissed somebody off and made somebody cry,” Burr admitted in a new interview on The Pat McAfee Show.

“If they come up to me, and they have a legitimate thing, then I’ll apologize to them,” he continued. “But I’m not apologizing to a bunch of f—ing people because I told a joke [at a show] that they weren’t at.”

He added that he never tries to be “malicious” with his jokes, saying, “I’m not going out there to hurt anybody, but, like, I also have the right to say whatever I want to say and say it the way I want to say it.”
