Actor Charlie Cox is making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Cox played blind lawyer Matt Murdock who fought crime as the masked titular hero “Daredevil” before Netflix canceled the show in 2018.
Although they teased that the character “would live on” at the time, the original contract between Marvel and Netflix prevented Daredevil – or any of the characters that appeared during the show’s run – to appear in any non-Netflix Marvel project for at least two years.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently confirmed the news during the press tour for the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
In an interview with Cinemablend, he said, “If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”
Although he didn’t disclose if fans will see Cox reprise his role as Daredevil in an upcoming film or his own Disney+ series, fans are speculating that Cox is actually going to appear in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
Right now, there is nothing to back up this rumor besides Internet speculation, but fans will just have to keep their fingers crossed until the film premieres on Friday, December 17, to know for sure.
Even if he doesn’t, there are still ways that Daredevil can appear in the current MCU timeline.
How Will Daredevil Fit Into Current Marvel Projects?

Fans seem to be loving the new Disney+ series, “Hawkeye,” which sees Jeremy Renner reprise his role as the titular character. Episode three of the series introduced a new character called Maya Lopez, aka the Native American Deaf superhero Echo, played by Native American Deaf actress Alaqua Cox. Cox was born Deaf and grew up on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin.
Echo is the adopted daughter of Kingpin, one of Daredevil’s enemies. After Kingpin killed her biological father, he took her in and raised her in a life of crime. However, fans of the comics know that she eventually betrays Kingpin and becomes a superhero in her own right after joining the Avengers. How that all plays out on screen remains to be seen.
For his part, Charlie Cox admitted in 2019 that he was shocked that “Daredevil” didn’t get a fourth season.
"I mean, we all thought we were going," Cox told ComicBook.com. "You know, I turned down jobs, 'cause I thought we were shooting and we were getting ready for it."
However, that didn't stop Cox from speculating on what might have been. In a recent interview in October 2021, he told host Jessica Shaw of “The Pop Culture Spotlight” that he would expect his return to the MCU to be a bit different from the version of his character that fans grew to love on the Netflix show.
“If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show,” he said during the interview. “If they choose me to do it, there are going to be some elements that are of course the same.”
Since Kevin Feige has just admitted that they will choose him, fans can't wait to see their fan-favorite superhero fighting crime back on screen!
