Swift Released 'Red' (Taylor's Version)

"Red" was originally released in 2012, and every song on it was a hit. The album is regarded as one of Swift's greatest works, so it's no surprise that the singer decided to go back to it. The artist chose to re-record six of her old albums after Scooter Braun bought the masters to the songs in 2019.

Swift hoped that the remake of the songs would give her discography back. On March 2021, the singer went on Instagram to write, "Artists should own their own work for many reasons. But the most seemingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really knows that body of work."

In addition to re-releasing the songs, Swift also released new videos for them. "I Bet You Think About Me" video was released on November 15 and starred Miles Teller and guest artist Chris Stapleton. It was also directed by Blake Lively, who is Swift's good friend.

Who Is The Song About?

Swift's relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal was popular due to its short-lived and disparity between their ages. The relationship started in late 2010 and ended in early 2011. The actor was 28 years old while Swift was 19. Because of the artist's habit of penning down songs about her ex relationships, fans believe this song might be about him.

"I Bet You Think About Me" was previously written in 2012 but was never recorded. Swift collaborated with country singer Chris Stapleton to release the song.

According to Elle, the song's lyrics contain several undeniable references to Gyllenhaal and his upbringing. One of the more famous lyrics read, "You grew up in a silver-spoon gated community / Glamorous, shiny, bright Beverly Hills."

Swift's Former Relationship With Gyllenhaal Under Scrutiny

"All Too Well" is another song rumored to be about Gyllenhaal. The song was in the previous album, but it was 10 minutes long in the re-recorded one. Here Swift went into even greater detail about her relationship with Gyllenhaal and led fans to believe that the actor broke the "22" singer's heart all those years ago.

This has put the former relationship under scrutiny, and fans have been having a field day talking about it online. Parade magazine reported that Gyllenhaal is currently trending online because some song lyrics indicate that the actor held on to a scarf that Swift had.

Gyllenhaal has been noticeably quiet despite everything and barely had any comments about the singer in the past. Fans believe that his silence means that the actor still feels the impact of "All Too Well."

Swift Tried To Buy Her Masters Back

Swift re-releasing her old songs is because of a situation that took away the ownership of her master recordings for the albums. The artist and Braun have been in a long feud because the latter bought her masters.

Braun apparently paid over $300 million to purchase Big Machine Label Group, the label Swift was signed to. This contract included the artist's masters, and in November 2020, Braun sold them. Since then, Swift tried to get her master recordings back, but it didn't work out.

The "Folklore" singer went on Twitter to explain things. "For the past year, I've been actively trying to regain ownership of my master recordings. With that goal in mind, my team attempted to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun."

"Scooter's team wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word about Scooter Braun unless it was positive before we could even look at the financial records of BMLG (which is always the first step in a purchase of this nature). So, I would have to sign a document that would silence me before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work."

The artist then claimed that she got a letter from a private equity company that said they bought all her music, videos, and album art from Braun, but the condition for sale was that they wouldn't contact Swift and her team.
