Football fans woke up to tragic news this morning when they learned that running back Otis Anderson Jr. was shot and killed by his father. His mother, Denise, was also shot.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said that the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, near the Forest Trails off 1-295.

The footballer, who fans dubbed "Juice," was taken to the hospital, but he passed away from his injuries.

The primary suspect in the case is Anderson's father, Otis Lee Anderson Senior. He was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

A court hearing will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Current information reveals that Anderson Sr., aged 52, is not eligible for bond. Descriptions for both charges read that he is being charged for "Murder / Dangerous act evincing a depraved mind w/o premed," which means authorities do not believe that either murder was premeditated at this time.

Fans and teammates of the UCF Knights took to Twitter in order to express their condolences.
