Jesy Nelson is once again making headlines for subtly shading her former band, Little Mix.
The solo-singer stirred up quite the controversy last December when she announced she’d be leaving the British girl group after nine years together.
Nearly one year later, she caused a ruckus with her debut single, “Boyz."
After making her debut as a solo-artist, many fans and her former bandmate, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, accused her of cultural appropriation.
Jesy Nelson has ruffled her former bandmate's feathers!
Nicki Minaj, who is featured on the track, came for Pinnock on social media and it was a whole big mess.
More on that in a bit!
Now, it’s been reported that Jesy is dating Pinnock’s ex-boyfriend and “Emily in Paris” actor Lucien Laviscount.
The new couple were spotted cozying up over the weekend in London.
In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Jesy and Lucien could be seen cuddling up in the back of a rickshaw after a dinner at Yatay in SoHo.
The pair were spotted kissing, embracing and staring into each other’s eyes.
Jesy enjoys boozy night out with new beau!
Jesy’s relationship with Lucien is very new. She was recently linked back with her ex-boyfriend, Harry James, in September.
While the new couple looks super cute, it turns out Lucien used to date Jesy’s former bandmate, Pinnock.
Pinnock and Lucien dated in 2012, a year after she along with Jesy, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall shot to fame on “X Factor.”
According to The Sun, Pinnock and the actor sparked romance rumors after they were spotted cuddling up on a romantic date night.
As die-hard Mixers know, Pinnock is engaged to soccer star Andre Gray, and has been with him since 2016. The couple welcomed twins in May.
Happy Together Forever!
So, while her relationship with Lucien is far from over, it’s just ironic her ex-bandmate is now cozying up to him.
As previously mentioned, things between Jesy and Little Mix, more specifically Pinnock and Jesy, turned ugly upon the release of “Boyz” and cultural appropriation backlash.
In alleged leaked messages, Pinnock called out her former bandmate for appropriating black culture, and Little Mix spoke out about how “harmful and problematic” Jesy’s actions were.
In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this year, Jade said, “Capitalizing on aspects of blackness without having to endure the daily realities of the Black experience is problematic and harmful to people of color.”
Jesy’s skin tone appeared much darker than normal, her lips fuller and was accused of using a “blaccent” in the song.
"We think it’s absolutely not OK to use harmful stereotypes. There’s so much to say on that subject that it’s hard to sum up in a sound bite," Jade continued.
When asked to address the ongoing feud between them and Nelson, the trio asked to skip any questions pertaining to her.
"We don’t really want to dwell, because we have so much to celebrate as a three,” Jade said. “We’ve dealt with it in the best way we know how, and got each other through it. We don’t want to talk about the video, or be critical, but one thing we will clarify regarding the 'blackfishing' situation is that Jesy was approached by the group in a very friendly, educational manner.”
