Ashanti feels extremely happy with her recent win!
As reported by Vibe, the 41-year-old singer won Lady of Soul at the 2021 Soul Train Awards. The annual event honored the best in African-American culture music and entertainment.
“I am so humbled and so blessed to be here—giving all praise to God,” Ashanti told the crowd.
She continued, “A lot of people thought that I wouldn’t make it this far […] some people may look at my journey and think it was easy. It was not.”
The musician added, “My career has been filled with so many peaks and valleys and it definitely wasn’t easy. I’ve been blessed to have broken records, won awards, and toured the world.”
She also spoke on how the moment felt to her since winning the Aretha Franklin Entertainer Of The Year Award in 2002.
Performing Her Hits
The New York native went on stage again with Ja Rule and Fat Joe. Ashanti sported a pair of thigh-high boots, from her collection, which she paired with a sexy, black bodysuit. She performed a medley of hits, including ”Happy,” “Rain On Me,” “The Way That I Love You,” “Baby,” “Foolish,” “What’s Luv,” and “Always On Time.”

Ashanti also took to her Instagram account today to share her thoughts about her recent award. She posted two photos of herself in a gorgeous black dress taken during her acceptance speech on stage.
“Once again it was a true honor. Such an incredibly humbling moment,” the “Coach Carter” star wrote in the caption.
She added, “My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. It hits different when you receive the love from your people. Thank you so so much to everyone!!! My Amazing fans I wouldn’t be here with out you!!!”
Ashanti also tagged multiple people from her team.
Her online supporters loved her new share, leaving more than 38,000 comments in which they showered her with admiration and support. Ashanti also received dozens of comments from numerous fans.

On November 24, Ashanti made her first post about her Soul Train Awards win. She uploaded several pics taken on the red carpet and inside the venue.
