Friendship With Kanye West
Virgil Abloh and Kanye West became close friends when they met in Italy while interns for Fendi back in 2009. Later, Abloh became the creative director on Kanye’s “Watch the Throne Album” and then the artistic director for the DONDA creative agency.
The worldwide recognition led to Abloh becoming the head of menswear and Louis Vuitton and debuting his own menswear collection for the iconic Parisian fashion house. His opening show was attended by celebrities including Kanye, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Naomi Campbell.
What is Cardiac Angiosarcoma?
Virgil Abloh’s family explained he privately battled with a rare form of cancer for over two years. Cardiac angiosarcoma is a type of vascular tumor that begins in the heart. The cancer is so rare that causes are still unknown and treatment options are limited.
The main treatment, according to Cancer Research UK, is a surgery aimed at removing the tumor before it spreads to the rest of the body.
