Keanu Reeves is one of the most prominent names and faces in Hollywood. The actor has starred in movies like “The Matrix” franchise, “Constantine,” and the famous “John Wick” franchise, among others.
Reeves has played the part of a hacker, an exorcist, a highly trained hitman, but the superhero role is one he hasn’t ventured into; the Marvel Cinematic Universe in particular.
Fans have been wondering if the actor would take up a role in MCU as a hero or villain, and Reeves just answered them. In a recent interview, the 57-year-old declared that working with Marvel would be an honor.
Fans have gone as far as matching him up with suitable characters and working out what is happening behind the scenes. Marvel’s boss Kevin Feige is also open to the idea if his interview in 2019 is any indication.

Reeves Would Be Honored To Join Marvel
Additions to “The Matrix” and “John Wick” franchise are right around the corner, and Reeves is smack dab in the middle of it all. He is still very aware of the MCU, even with these two movies coming up.
He recently spoke about his interest in joining the MCU, and Marvel fans can’t get enough of it. The actor said that he found the company impressive and that he would be excited to join them. During an interview with Esquire, Reeves called it an honor and said, “there’s some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s ever done. It’s special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it would be cool to be a part of that.”

Although this doesn’t mean that the decision is set in stone, it definitely means that the actor would accept a Marvel contract if given, and it’s something for fans to be excited about. They already have the perfect superhero character waiting for when he signs on.
MCU Fans Want Reeves In A Marvel Movie
There has been a lot of speculation by fans about Reeves joining MCU as a superhero. He has been known throughout his career as one of the biggest and most loved names in Hollywood. Although there has been no official announcement, fans are already busy finding favorite characters for the actor.
One of them is Wolverine because Hugh Jackman retired from the role. Marvel would need a really good actor to cast this role, and who better than Reeves? Another favored superhero idea is Johnny Blaze, AKA Ghost Rider.
The last time Ghost Rider appeared on screen was in 2011. “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” was played by Nicholas Cage and it was poorly received. Most fans believe that the Ghost Rider would make a cameo appearance in “Doctor Strange 2” before being properly introduced.
MCU President Wants Reeves On Board
In a 2019 interview with Comicbook, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige noted his interest in Reeves as an MCU character. He confessed that the studio always approached the “John Wick” actor with opportunities.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make,” he laughed. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
Feige then compared Reeves to Jake Gyllenhaal, who also approached several ties before the perfect role as Mysterious who starred in “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” The MCU president confessed that they were hoping for the same thing to happen so that Reeves would be presented with a perfect role.
Why Marvel Stopped Using Certain Characters
In the book “The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of Marvel Cinematic Universe,” it was disclosed that Feige stopped using characters like “Daredevil,” Ghost Rider,” and “The Punisher.” According to the book, this was because the MCU was “already deeply committed to their successful Avengers characters and impending Guardians of the Galaxy characters.”
With the rumors swirling around about these characters coming back to the big screens, there’s a possibility that Reeves could play Ghost Rider. However, if Marvel already has someone in store for the character, the actor recently discussed how he wouldn’t mind returning to the comic book genre because of his role as John Constantine in “Constantine.”
Reeves said he loved the DC role and wouldn’t mind reprising it. “I loved playing Constantine,” the 57-year-old said. “John Constantine. I’ve played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don’t even know. I think it’s over ten. But anyway, I’d love to have the chance to play Constantine again.”
