Triple H is among the many people mourning the shocking death of former WWE star Shad Gaspard this week, who was found dead on the beach in California three days after going missing while swimming with his son. He was caught in a riptide, and the lifeguard was only about to save his son.

"Shad was one of those guys that everybody loved," Triple H told TMZ. "He's just the greatest guy. So nice and finding success in all these other things he was doing in Hollywood and everything else," he said.

Triple H also tweeted about the incident. "I join fans around the world as we remember Shad Gaspard as a beloved performer and a caring father. In absolutely tragic circumstances, please keep his loved ones in your thoughts."

Gaspard's wife issued a statement about his death on Thursday.

"Aryeh, myself and the Gaspard and Chittick families would like to take this time to thank everyone for their prayers and support as we mourn this terrible loss of our beloved Shad," she wrote.

"Shad was our whole world and we were his. There are not enough words to describe what he means to all of us. He was our heart, our soul, our protector, our warrior. He was a bright force of nature, who brought joy to many through his joyous and gracious nature."

"The outpouring of love from Shad's friends, colleagues and fans has meant more to us than you can ever imagine," Siliana continued. "We'd like to once again thank the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their efforts. Shad was and will always be our real life super hero."

The US Coast Guard, Los Angeles County lifeguards and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department all were involved in the search for Gaspard.

"When last seen by the lifeguard, a wave had crashed over Mr. Shad Gaspard and he was swept out to sea," the Los Angeles Police department said in a statement.

Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson shared his condolences on Wednesday.

"This one hurts. Great guy. My deepest condolences and love to Shad Gaspard's wife, son and family," Johnson wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. "Shad drowned in the ocean, but not before instructing lifeguards to save his 10yr old son first. That's the love of a father. This is a tough one to process. Love and light to Shad's family. And your warrior spirit lives on through your son."
