After learning Sex and the City Samantha Jones won't be killed off in the reboot, DailyMail has reported the popular character has left the streets of New York to London after having a fallout with Carrie Bradshaw! Gasps. Looks like life imitates art in the reboot series. Previously, the publication confirmed the character would not be killed off in And Just Like That... but, it looks like Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker'sreal-life feud has worked its way into the SATC universe.
A source from the new series told the DailyMail that Jones is thriving in England even though she has fallen out with Carrie." Ooop. "Sending her to Los Angeles wasn't an option as we'd done that in the first movie, so having her character based in London really was the perfect way to keep her alive and explain her absence." As we do recall in the first SATC movie, Jones went out to Los Angeles to help her beau Smith Jerrod with his acting career.
Here's where the story gets even juicier.
An insider told the outlet by the end of the season, we'll see Bradshaw try to "extend the olive branch" to Samantha in an effort to get her back to the states and mend their fallout. Now, is this what Parker may be doing behind the scenes as well? Is this her way off a peace offering with Cattrall through their characters? Hmph.
"Carrie is the one who has the tough time without Samantha and by the end of ''And Just Like That'' you'll see Carrie extend the olive branch and try and rekindle the friendship,' the insiders shared.
It looks like the show is making strides to hopefully have Cattral return for season two, as an insider told the outlet Cattral is "missed on set."
"Samantha Jones is one of television's all-time much-loved characters and Kim is a phenomenal actress who brings her to life perfectly. She needs to come home, if not for us, but for the fans that adore her," they continued.
"We have high hopes that by the time we begin filming the second season, Kim will have joined the show and Samantha Jones can make a triumphant return to the big apple. We want Kim back. She was missed on set. We all understand why she feels the way she does. We get it. We just want her to come back for future seasons."
"We'll announce eventually that the show will have a second season," the insider shared.
"This isn't a one-off, this will be a series. It will be quite a while between the first and second series as Sarah Jessica Parker has a busy schedule and we have a lot of work to do to get Kim Cattrall back."
Cattral has yet to comment, which could be due to her recently joining the cast for the 'Queer As Folk' reimagining, 'How I Met Your Father,' as well as other projects she's been tapped for to appear in. With the opening for Cattral to return, do you think she will bite and come back for a second season if picked up? Only time will tell. For now, Samantha Jones is going to own London as she did back in New York City.
