Keanu Reeves Loves John Wick Movies, Even Sees Them In Regular Theaters

Could you imagine going out to a movie theater to see any movie that you like only to find yourself sitting next to the star of the film while watching? That must be a surreal experience. If you’re watching a Keanu Reeves movie there’s a chance this could happen to you. You just have to make sure that you find yourself in one of the select theaters that Keanu Reeves frequents. The good news is, Keanu goes to the movies anywhere in the world that he finds himself in. Theoretically, anyone’s got a shot to catch a glimpse of the Matrix star attending his own movie on a night out.

Keanu’s Massive Movie Fandom Extends To All Sorts of Movies

Keanu doesn’t just head to the movies to watch his own work. He’s also interested in virtually anything else that’s out there. Plus, judging from his own filmography it can be inferred that he’s into all sorts of genres. He’s made a movie in virtually every single known genre to this point in his career. Reeves confessed to heading over to the movies on an off day and even sitting through 3 different films. He detailed that he recently sat down to watch Dune in a French theater. When asked by Esquire which of his movies reflect him as a person he declared,

“Oh my gosh. Three films. Okay, let’s just start with The Matrix—and when I say The Matrix, let’s do the trilogy—that’s one. [Pause.] Then let’s do The Devil’s Advocate. And then let’s do . . . we need something action-y in there, so let’s do Point Break.”

Why Keanu Reeves Wanted To Watch John Wick In Theaters

There are plenty of actors out there who admit to not watching themselves on screen. That’s not Keanu Reeves at all. He not only likes watching himself on screen he does so at times as part of almost a social experiment. Reeves recalled going with a friend to see John Wick 3. He remembers that he wanted to do it because he didn’t know whether he’d get a chance to see himself play the character on the big screen again. Also, he wanted to see how real audiences reacted to the film. Reeves recalled of his experience,

“I didn’t know if I was going to get the chance to do another one, and I just wanted to see if people liked it,” he continues saying “It was cool when people started laughing during the knife fight in the opening.” he also mentioned, “I went with a friend. I was like, ‘Let’s go see John Wick 3 before it goes.’ I love John Wick movies! They’re fun!”

Could Keanu Find Himself In The Marvel Universe Soon

In the interview, Reeves also got asked if he would consider being involved in other big-budget franchises. Particularly the Marvel cinematic universe. Keanu did not sidestep the question and directly admitted that he would love to be a part of some superhero franchise. Saying,

“It would be an honor. Some really amazing directors and visionaries. They’re doing something no one’s ever really done. It’s special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it’d be cool to be a part of that,”

From watching 3 movies at the movies in a day to going to random theaters to see his own work, it’s clear that Keanu Reeves is a true movie geek in a good way.
