Mike Tyson: 'If I Do Not Get Laid, I Will Kill This Guy Right Now’

It's been just a couple of days since we reported that Mike Tyson was looking into different uses for toad venom.
The former heavyweight champion claims his holistic experience on psychedelics saved him from his hard drug addiction. As you can probably imagine Mike's always had a thing for "unconventional" methods. His former bodyguard and chauffeur Rudy Gonzalez, who potentially did more driving than protecting Tyson, back in the 80s is spilling some secrets about working with the champ to the Sun.
One of them being that Tyson used to be really concerned about potentially killing his opponents in the ring. Anyone whose watched Tyson's fights, particularly ones earlier in his career, will know that the concern was real. In those days Tyson was just that much better than his opponents. He had to find a way to "loosen up" before going into the ring.
Mike's Super Secret Formula To Avoid Killing People In The Ring
According to Gonzalez he had a very specific job to do on fight night to make sure that Tyson was ready to walk out to the ring. Rudy would bring girls over to the dressing room so that Tyson could unwind before the fight. He says Tyson was genuinely concerned about killing someone in the ring, and he would literally tell him, "If I do not get laid, I will kill this guy right now." Rudy even got explicit talking about the sexual encounters that Tyson would have in his dressing room saying,
"Sometimes he’d go in with them [the women] for a minute, bang the s–t out of them, snap his neck and say: ‘OK, this guy is going to live tonight.’ ”
What Was Mike Tyson's Biggest Fear In That Era?
It's safe to say that fight nights were good fun for Tyson, however Rudy Gonzalez also recalls the real distress that the champion constantly lived under. He had plenty more concerns other than potentially killing opponents in the ring. That lead to some serious anxiety issues. His former body guard claims that Mike was really concerned that if he screwed things up he'd be put right back where he started. That was not a place that he ever wanted to be in again. Gonzalez detailed,
“He had an anxiety problem where he would be in despair with anxiety of not feeling good enough or not wanting to screw it up,” Gonzalez then added, “Mike had the fear that if he screwed this up, he would end up back in his old neighborhood or be locked up.”
The Tyson Pre-fight Ritual Was Not Connected To His Rape Conviction
As far as we know Desiree Washington, the woman who accused Mike Tyson of rape in 1992, was not one of those women that Rudy Gonzalez brought over to Mike's dressing room. In fact, the alleged rape incident in that case happened in Indianapolis where Mike was set to judge a beauty pageant. Although he was in jail for 3 years Tyson has maintained that he was innocent of the crime.
We can't help but think though that anyone with a similar pre-fight ritual these days would find themselves in hot water on the legal side of things sooner rather than later.
