Kanye West Supports Causes Close To Home Amid Coronavirus

As the coronavirus outbreak continues to cripple the economy with people facing lost jobs and schools closing, the vulnerable groups in Chicago and Los Angeles have something to smile about thanks to Kanye West. The rapper, entrepreneur, and producer does not seem to have forgotten the two communities with whom he shares strong ties.

The 42-year-old hip hop star opened his wallet for the non-profit organizations in his original home town, Chicago, and the adopted home Los Angeles, joining the growing list of concerned celebrities who have come out to help the needy.

The wealthy rapper was born in Atlanta, GA, although his parents divorced, forcing him to move to Chicago with his mom at 3. West had his formative years in Chicago. However, he later moved to L.A and, at one point, made his old house in Chicago a Museum and Studio for the unprivileged youth.

West is now reported to have reached out to We Women Empowered and Josephine’s Cooking in the same hometown, and Los Angeles’ Dream Center with undisclosed amounts of donations.

Josephine Wade Expresses Her Gratitude to Kanye West

Josephine Wade runs We Women Empowered, a non-profit organization that has seen the community grow to love her to an extent they even named a street after Wade. She also runs Southern Cooking, a restaurant that, along with We Women Empowered, works to ensure that the elderly in Chicago get three meals every day.

Wade came out to thank Kanye West for the kind gesture, noting how the We Women Empowered fraternity’s world had changed just in one phone call.

Josephine Wade Reveals She Knew Kanye West’s Mom and She Once Helped Them

As ABC reported, Josephine Wade was out of words when she learned that the celebrated rapper had decided to render some help and chose her two organizations in the Southside of Chicago. As she said, Kanye West is, probably not aware that Wade knew his mom, and used to help them back in the days.

Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, was a professor at the Chicago State University and died in 2007 after suffering a heart disease following cosmetic surgery.

Kanye West Provides Over 7,000 Meals for Coronavirus Victims

Dream Center, which also benefitted from Kanye West’s charity is reported to be providing around 7,000 meals a day to the individuals affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, with the growing rate of the virus’ spread, the number is predicted to grow to over 9,000. The number of high profile personalities stretching their hand amid the global health crisis is also expected to rise. Ryan Reynolds and his wife are also among the individuals who have given a donation of $1 million to Foodbanks Canada and Feeding America.
