Idris Elba has been in the news aplenty for the past few months, and days. First, he was the half-bionic villain in Hobbs & Shaw, a Fast & Furious spin-off that was a tremendous hit. Then, he came in one of the biggest flops of the season, Cats, as the villainous cat, Macavity. And finally, he went down to the worst villain of the season, Coronavirus. Along with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Elba was one of the first celebrities to catch the dreaded virus.

Elba Was Slammed For Getting A Test

When Idris Elba confirmed that he had contracted the Coronavirus, he also mentioned that he did not have any symptoms. While many appreciated his proactiveness, others said that he should have waited to take the test if he did not have any symptoms. So basically, Elba was being test-shamed, though he did exactly what he should have done, considering he had come into contact with someone who later confirmed a Coronavirus diagnosis. Just because he did not have symptoms, he could have still spread it, if not for the diagnosis.

His Wife Chose To Quarantine With Him

While Elba came on social media to announce his diagnosis via an Instagram video, his wife, Sabrina Dhowre-Elba was sitting right next to him. So Elba got slammed, again, this time for not self-isolating from his wife. Later, it did turn out that it was Sabrina's decision to be with her husband in times of mental and health stress. Of course, quite naturally, Sabrina herself tested positive for COVID-19. But there's another scary bit to the Elbas' diagnosis of this virus.

They Are Asymptomatic, Completely

Despite a positive diagnosis, that they are now passing in quarantine, Idris and Sabrina are completely symptom-free. They do not have a fever or cough, have no fatigue and are not showing any signs of actually having the virus. And they said this on Oprah Talks: COVID-19, where they Facetimed with Oprah and spoke about how scary it all was. How many people could be having the virus right now, not showing any symptoms, but acting as superspreaders in the world?

Some People Have Turned This Around

Of course, with the Internet and its anonymity, some people took to trolling the celebs who went online to talk about their diagnosis, status, and recovery. Elba found this ludicrous, saying that just because he had COVID-19, it was no walk in the park. And why would any celebrity be paid to lie about a diagnosis, because it's not as if Coronavirus bestowed a gift on them, right? The scary bit is the asymptomatic Coronavirus person. Which is why for now, social distancing is the only solution.
